I think that you should spend a whole day at KK instead of spending to
different days at Holiday world. KK has a lot more to do than HW.

RE: PGA Micheal and "spend a whole day at KK"

No way! I think Todd is one the right track. Do KK in the morning --
none
of the rides there you will want to ride more than twice, max. After a
couple
of hours, he can head over to Holiday World for those legendary night
rides
on the Raven!

Buck

Well, that's how it ended, anyway...Once again, the original message never
made it to my primary news server ARGHS!

Anyway, the argument was that there is more to do at Kentucky Kingdom "The
Thrill Park" than at Holiday World.

Okay, there are more ride pieces at Kentucky Kingdom. Also, because KK
neglected to put a STAIRWAY at one end of that bridge, there is a #{!! of
a lot more walking at KK. That's about the limit of it, though. Buck and
the original poster have it right. Spend the day at Holiday World, and
combine Kentucky Kingdom with something else. If it fits your pattern, I
had a pretty good time when I hit KK in the early part of the day, then
headed up to Americana in the late afternoon
(sorry...it's been a long time since I read the original "Coaster Tour
'95" post, and that was on a different news server...)

The Raven is far better than Thunder Run, and in much better shape
(read:much more rideable!). Spend lots of time riding the Raven.

My experiences with Kentucky Kingdom last season seem to indicate that
"The Thrill Park" is no more than an advertising catch-phrase, unless your
idea of thrills are a bunch of Zamperla rides, a couple of Vekoma
head-bangers, a reprofiled woodie with headrests and a bad case of Dinn
Shuffle (not to mention ratcheting lap bars that WILL ratchet down during
the ride...take along a safety strap!!), and a Jet Star with added seat
belts and a very strange warning sign...

I'm sorry, but standing in line at KK (I went there on the only crowded
day of the season last year 8-( ) isn't my idea of "fun" when I could be
riding the Raven. Get thee to Santa Claus. The park doesn't have a whole
lot else besides the Raven, but it has a nicer crowd than KK as well. The
KK crowd was downright scary at times (though not as bad as PKI or Geauga
Lake).

Speaking of the crowd at KK. I visited the park last Friday night & had
an incident which bothered me somewhat. Two aquaintences of the group I
was with said something to two young males as they were hopping rails
(cutting line). One of the two people told them "you better leave him
alone, he has a 9mm". This happened while in line for T2. We ran into
the two gentlemen who had just been threatened in the line queue. They
had notified park employees who in turn notified the police. They
signaled the police when they two perpetrators left the station on the
ride. The police had the attendants hold the train when it got back
until the two young men were identified (that was kind of neat, they
couldn't get away...). They were frisked & released. It turned out that
they did not in fact have a gun. I spoke with the officer later & he
said that the public embarassement would probably be enough. I was
hoping that they would be ejected from the park.

I guess Friday night's are not the best time to visit KK. They have what
is called "Day 5 Alive". It is a dancing event which is filmed for local
broadcast. The admission is $8.95 after 6:00pm.

On another note. I rode TR for the second time this season. The first
time I was near the back and it seemed much smoother. Friday night I
rode in the second seat back. It was *unbelievably* rough. I am one
which enjoys rough wooden coasters, but TR can be downright painful. At
a couple of points, my back was slamming into the seat with jack-hammer
speed. I'll only ride TR from now on if the people I am with insist.
