I. INTRODUCTION
The number of electronically available texts or journals available in
Classics is growing daily. A list of electronically available
resources should be part of the developing Classics_FAQ file; until
that file is updated, I offer this modest repository of individual
knowledge. I will update this file as more information becomes
available and post it during the first week of each month unless
someone tells me to shut up or to stand aside for a better list. New
information will retain a bit more detail for the first few posts,
then will be whittled down.
I would be grateful for additional information or updated information
about these. Please e-mail me directly, and redundancy is no
detriment. I had originally confined this list to information
about "core" Classics: texts, programs, and/or journals relating to
Greek and Roman antiquity, and authors who wrote in Greek or Latin.
I have somewhat expanded into Classical Greek and Roman history or
archaeology, but have so far resisted pre-history and the Middle
Ages, even though there is of course much of interest there, and
dividing lines are by no means clear. Obviously, some decisions about
what to include are more or less arbitrary.
I have included information about FTP sites, TELNET, Gopher, and WWW
where known to me, as well as a section on Classical Associations.
I have made a conscientious effort to test all sources listed here and
make sure that they "work", but I cannot guarantee all information.
See below under VII. for false trail(s).

(Center for Electronic Texts in the Humanities)
maintains listings of and WWW links to centers in universities
and research facilities that hold collections of electronic
texts with access to the community, and that have some kind of
training available for text analysis software. Also includes
certain archives and humanities computing centers.

This archive is neither simple nor straightforward to use, and
in many cases will also not be free of charge. Retrieve the
README file and the file "textarchives.information". A catalog
can be retrieved as well, "textarchives.list", but you need the
.information file to interpret it. Policy changes have gone
into effect recently to make the materials more easily
accessible.
* The Roman Law Project

The articles in the forthcoming issue of TAPA are retained on
line until the hard copy is published. There seem to be two versions
of each article, one in ASCII and one formatted for MS-Word. It
appears that the project has been put on hold after vol. 123 (1993),
since nothing from vol. 124 was available.

VII. FALSE TRAIL:
The Classics_FAQ lists nic.funet.fi as a source for transcripts of
the broadcasts (in Latin) of Radio Finland. But in fact the files in
that archive that contain "latin" in the name are screen fonts for the
e-macs editor. I have not found latin transcripts at nic.funet.fi.
Frequencies for listening to Radio Finland may be found in the
sources.cls file noted above.
VIII. MAILING LISTS
To the address given, send an e-mail message (with no subject
line) consisting of the word "subscribe" (or the variant noted)
and your actual name (not your e-mail address) in the form
Firstname Lastname; some newsgroups do not require your name
(see individual group information), some require additional
information. Please let me know if you can verify that any of these
has changed its address or become obsolete. A "mailing list" consists
of a connected group of people interested in the same topic, whose
messages are distributed to one another as e-mail by a service known
as a "LISTSERV". Some mailing lists are also available as Newsgroups,
where your institution or news server distributes contributions
("posts") through its news network;, CLASSICS, for example, is also
