I searched for info on the LA32 chip that's in Roland MT-32/LAPC-1. I found
a link to a 1989 dated page:
http://www.ircam.fr/sons/archives/MIDI/doc/MT32internals

Quote:
"The LA chip has connections for the PCM sample ROMs (two 256Kx8 Toshiba
Mask ROMs on board rev 0 or one Hitachi 512Kx8 ROM on board rev 1)"

So what I'm asking is that has anyone fiddled around with MT-32 or LAPC-1
enough to be able to digitally download the PCM sample ROMs? If so I'd
be really eager to get them. I got the impression that downloading the PCM
samples from the ROMs can't be done digitally at all without some hardware
hacking and I'm not up to the task so that's why I'm posting this here
in hope that someone better qualified for the task has already done the
necessary work.

Even though I'm looking for digitally dumped sample-ROMs I would still
be pleased to get the samples analogically sampled too. I already got
analogically sampled drum samples but nothing else.

I'd like the PCM samples from the MT-32/LAPC-1 so that I could try
to make a emulator for MT-32/LAPC-1. I know it isn't simple
sample playing and that there's some wavegenerating and reverb involved,
but I'm so nostalgic with the way the music sounded when I used
to play old Sierra games with Roland music that I really want to
try to do the damn thing.
