I am happy this message got posted! In fact, the download
links are active on this site now, as of today. I am so
excited to get feedback on it. To the VRML group: I have a
vrml loading command (GEOMVRML) that is included in the source.
However, when I try to load a vrml file specified as a URL,
the loader doesn't seem to work. For that reason, I have not
showcased the GEOMVRML command, but it is still there. I am
hoping also to add a GEOMX3D command. Please visit the web
site and give me feedback. FastScript3D passes simple text
strings between JavaScript and Java3D making it very easy to
get started with Java3D web applets.

Best Regards
Patti Koenig

| Hi Patti,
|
| The problem is that the viewer is too close
| to the models, and there is nothing to be seen !
|
| It's all just black.
|
| The only way to see the 3d models is
| to zoom away from them.
|
| I think that you should set the correct position

Hi Florin,

The image shows what I saw, it was perfectly centered for me.

Earth Rotating with Glare, Spacecraft with movable panels
---------------------------------------------------------
http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/sc_nasa_java3d_simple.jpg
http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/terrain_rendering.html

http://fastscript3d.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery.html
http://fastscript3d.jpl.nasa.gov/helloworld.html
http://fastscript3d.jpl.nasa.gov/hinge.html

I did experience the shock of seeing a black
screen area -- as you said you did -- until after
pressing the "Start applet" button and what seemed
to be a inordinately long wait ...

and the rotating globe didn't work for me until
I downloaded it and ran it locally.

Linux & Mozilla are what I use.

The program needs refinement and polish.

Java3d can be made to work well in a browser,
and many interesting, complex interactive
VRML animations, with Sound, H-Anim Avatars
with Touch Sensors and Gesture Animations are
possible and things that I have done.

Ignore the unreliable Prentice Hall books
and false self-serving FUD from
Justin Couch, Alan Hudson, and Aaron Walsh
and the others who have tried and failed to
animate VRML H-Anim Avatars on the Web in
a browser without expensive certificates with
Sounds and Gesture Animations triggered from
mouse clicks on Touch Sensors.

Java3d works reliably, fast, and well.

VRML spacecraft with moving panels, earth & moon orbiting Sun

http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/mgs/movpics/mgs_vrml/mgs_vrml.html
http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/mgs/movpics/anim/mapcyc.mpg

The VRML model of the earth & moon orbiting the Sun
works __ BOTH __ with Shout3d's Java 1.1 engine and
the Sun VRML Loaders for Java3d, it works in a browser
and also as a stand alone application ( as shown ) where
you can enter a URL and it ... does the rest.

Bob, Do you thing this Object-Oriented programming ?:

http://cic.nist.gov/vrml/cis/Element2d_p.wrl

Isn't Java3d more Object-Oriented than that ?

Bob, why are you intereted in Java3d ?

Why did you remove the VRML Java from the NIST
site, after spending our tax dollars to add it ?

Isn't it a waste of tax dollars to spend time
creating those nine web pages and then deleting
them, and the links to them ?

Why doen't your VRML PROTOs ( eg. the .wrl above )
work with Blaxxun ?

What software do you suggest for running your
CIS/2 VRML data output for people using Linux ?

| You picked one of the files that does
| not display anything when converted to VRML

|
| The PROTOs that I have written do not work with blaxxun Contact.

I also seen other VRML PROTOs not working with Blaxxun.
There are rumours, Blaxxun would optimize too agressivly in PROTOs....
