"John Travolta's Alien Notion" by
Richard Leiby in the Sunday Washington Post is beautifully written.

Go buy a copy of the Post or go to www.Washingtonpost.com for a good printout
copy.

Leiby will go right to the top of scientology's 'enemies' list. I officially
ask the ARSCC to appoint Richard Leiby an Honorary SP status.

AFAIK, Leiby's been at the top of the SP heap since the days he
reported on the cult at the old Clearwater Sun. His ranking on the
Scientology "enemies" list is probably equivalent to that. :)

(Leiby can award himself his very own SP ranking...after all, that's
what the ARSCC is about!)

It's a good article. It probably won't be posted here because they have
done something fancy with the HTML, and you can't copy and paste it.

I could post the source code, but I get the impression these newspapers
don't like people taking their articles w/o paying for it somehow. I'll
leave it at that.

Easy enough, click on the "Printer Friendly Version" link, and
copy and paste as normal.

Someone else posted it, BTW.

It's got a /noedit flag in the text, is all. I'm told that
Netscape will honor it yet other browsers ignore it.

Coincidentally, sitting in my inbound e-mail box I found a
copy of this article -- sent to me hours before I heard about
it here and started looking for it. The gut who sent it to
me doesn't participate in this forum, either. He just knows
a few important things. }:-}

It's still there. Go to www.Washingtonpost.com which will bring up the Sunday
Post. Scroll down to the 'Morning Paper' section and On the right under
'STYLE' you will find Richard Leiby's article. It will print out very nicely.

I'm intending to translate it. There is a lot of time I've not done comical
articles.

Leiby has been on the top of the SP Journalist list for quite some
time. You might recall he was sued along with Arnie Lerma for
covering the exposure of the OT levels. Judge Brinkema threw out the
suit, deplored the motivation for it, and ordered the nut-cult to pay
legal costs for Leiby and the Washington Post.

Leiby has been covering the cult since at least 1994 and has received
a lot of harassment and bullshit as a result.

I believe Leiby used to work for the Clearwater _Sun_, when it
still
existed, before it became a target for Scientology in Operation
Tricycle,
and afterward. He knows a *lot* about Scientology.

During RTC v. Lerma they filed a frivolous lawsuit against him and the
Washington Post (which they lost utterly), also around this time he
found a dead rabbit in his backyard.

I'd imagine he was also in for harassment when he worked for the
(now-defunct) Clearwater Sun.

I think he started at the Sun in 1977, but that could be wrong. Then
he covered the trials of the GO 11. And has clearly kept his hand in
the $cientology controversy for the Washington Post right up to PT.
