Hello all,

Does anyone know anything about William Sullivan III's missing Land of
Gorch Tribute Page? Seen any signs of it returning?

It's old server, www.fishnet.com is apparently no longer with us. The URL
USED to be at http://www.fishnet.net/~wsullivan/wwgorch.html

Hi Monica!
Long time no hear from! ;)
Fishnet went out of business and forgot to tell it's customers. The
Land of Gorch page will eventually be back, (along with it's sponsor) at
the following URL:
www.jetlink.net/~grysken

Hope that helps! :)

The sooner the better!

The toilet god sacrifice gimmick was damned cool!

I was searching for info today, here's what resulted (much from this very
thread, included anyway).

Thank you for your query regarding the Muppet "Land of Gorch" sketches
from Saturday Night Live. The Muppets appeared only on the first season
of SNL. There is a good overview of this period in Christopher Finch's
book, Jim Henson - the Works. The following is a chart of the airdates
for that first season. It is my understanding that the Gorch Muppets
appeared on each show listed.

The Jim Henson Company has never released these on home video, but there
is a possibility that they may appear on some SNL video compilations. I
am quite certain there are Saturday Night Live sites out there, but I
couldn't direct you to a specific one.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Karen Falk

Hi,

I didn't see any info on the segments that ran on the 1975 (first,
anyway) season of NBC's "Saturday Night." Is any information available?
I was hoping to find a fan site somewhere since those sketches were so
cool! Naturally, The Great Flavog is my all-time favourite Muppet...

How many episodes were produced with that sketch?

Were they ever offered for sale on video?

Here's a blurb about Favog from the "Muppets Inside" booklet: he "was
named after the clock in the Green Room of 'The Ed Sullivan Show'.
Whenever the show ran long, the Muppet performers would pray to the
clock - which they dubbed 'The Mighty Favog' - in hopes that they
wouldn't get bumped from the lineup." :-)

The star was King Ploobis (Henson), and his right-hand creature was Scred
(Jerry Nelson). They would mostly argue and get drunk. Ploobis' wife was
Queen Peuta, the beautiful serving wench was Vazh, and the weird old guy
was Wisss. The god was the Mighty Favog (Frank Oz), the funniest
character in the whole shebang -- he kept asking for sacrifices: "Lay it
on yer god!" -- and haggling over the price for wisdom. Pretty excellent.

Ploobis: You know why I drink whiskey? It's cause I hate myself. Scred:
Oh! That must be why I drink.
Ploobis: Yeah?
Scred: I hate you too!
