Tim Powys-Lybbe wrote with problems associated with the John Poyntz and
Margaret Saunders marriage.

In answer,
1. John Poyntz appears to be the son of Robert Poyntz and Margaret
Wydevill.
2. Yes! Yes! Yes!

Unfortunately you missed the reference in Maclean's Iron Acton pedigree
which points to Table VI. This is the pedigree of Skinner of Reigate.
According to Maclean: John Poyntz married Elizabeth Browne in 1527
and she bore hime three children Henry (an imbecile), Matthew (his
heir), and Frideswide. He then married Margaret Saunders circa 1533/4
and she had four children Robert, William of Woodhatch, Reigate,
Elizabeth m. George Elyot of London, and Alice m. John Skynner of
Reigate. His will proved in 1544 states that Henry, age 16, was his
eldest child P.C.C. (19 Pynning). Some time after his death Margaret
married James Skynner of Reigate who died s.p. in 1558 P.C.C. (10
Wells).
Margaret died in 1564 and in her will P.C.C. (22 Stevenson) acknowledges
her children by John Poyntz. A calculation gives her birth year at
around 1512, which agrees with being the 4th. child of her parent's
marriage of 1504.

I'm particulurly interested in the Skynners as John Skynner, husband of
John and Margaret Poyntz's daughter Alice, was the grandson of John
Skynner, brother of James Skynner (Ob.1558). This elder John Skynner was
said to have married Catharine, a daughter of .... Barlee of Clavering
Essex. I descend from a marriage of John Barlee (probably Catharine's
brother) and Margaret Poyntz, daughter of William Poyntz of North
Okendon Essex.

If Tim would like a copy of the pedigree and some relevant notes drop me
a line off-list and I'll send to you as an enclosure.

Regards to all
