Joker
An exceptionally good roll.
(From Tom Keith's Backgammon Glossary at http://www.bkgm.com/).

Well, some people like to play 5-prime stud, jokers wild. There was a fellow
(I think he's dead now) named egon_beermat, he was quite a joker. FuzzyKiwi
would like to be known as a joker, but he/she is pretty lame. TomServo (aka
jclfresomethingorother) is a joke, if that counts . . .

A perfect roll, which changes a losing position to a winning one. For
instance, a double 2 from the bar which hits a blot on the deuce point
and picks up an additional blot, AND makes the four point.
He was about to get closed out and now he is winning the game.
Also called a "perfecta".

A joker is a longshot roll (usually 17:1 or 35:1) that causes a big
swing in the match. For example, you're stuck behind a 5-prime:
O O O O O
O O O O O O X
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
which your opponent is about to close, and you roll a 1-6 to leap the
prime and hit his blot.
