Greta Van Susteren on "Larry King Live", 6/12/98

LARRY KING: The dispute on this inside the Southern Baptists and
outside, etc. Greta, think you can make your position a little
clearer?

[caption--Greta Van Susteren, CNN Legal Analyst]
GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: Larry, look, it’s--as I said, it’s not my
personality to sort of play second fiddle to my husband; but I--you
know, always the thing that distresses me is when everybody outside a
group is very critical about the way a religion wants to run itself.
If the Southern Baptists want to do this, they have an absolute right
to do it, and especially when we examine the history and see how many
wars are fought in the name of religion, how many people are critical
of other religions; we see how dangerous it is--

KING: What if the Ku Klux Klan said it was religious? Would it have
been rude to criticize them?

VAN SUSTEREN: Well, yes, they violated the law, at least in the--

KING: Yes, they violated the law. But on their edict, was wrong to
criticize them? That whites were superior to blacks--

VAN SUSTEREN: Well, I mean, I’d--

KING: --this idiotic idea--

VAN SUSTEREN: I would, I would say that you, you have a right to
criticize them, but, and--but now I’m criticizing them for what I
have; that’s the racism, for murdering people, frankly--

KING: But not for--

VAN SUSTEREN: I have a good conscience for that. But if they decide
to have, to do some practice that was lawful, I would leave them
alone.

KING: Rev. Schuller, what do you--what does the word "submit
graciously" mean? What does that word mean to you?

[end]

Realvideo on Greta van Susteren, our alleged CNN scientologist, from
last night's Larry King on Southern Baptists, who say that women have to
submit to their husbands.

She says that she dislikes outside critics of religions in general, and
says that even the *KKK* should not be critizised, if they would call
themselves religious and would act lawfully at the same time :))

Do we have a transcript of this?
I need this on my new Racism page. I'll be supplying links to the
files themselves. I'm also reposting this to another NG.
