IMHO I've jest had the privilege of seeing the best surf on
planet earth and of course I can't tell ya exactly where but
let's say you were in Margaret River and took out a map and
saw a bit of nowhere nearby that jutted out that extra bit
into the Indo Ocean you'd be lookin at it.

After three years of being XXtra nice and respectful and
not taking too many waves on the main breaks (as if), the
locals finally showed me the treasure trove.

I arrived in Marg's on Friday before Easter just as a huge
new swell came in and so I humbly took full credit for it ;-)
The waves turned on for the Margaret River Masters finals,
especially filthy for the women's comp, which Pru Jeffries
won neatly. Although Munga gave it everything for the men's
finals, including surfing many times over dry reef and a
9 point wave, he lost to local Jake Patterson when a sudden
lull hit the last heat. Oh well.

We had no less than five new swells during the next two weeks
with constant offshores and "fine" weather, which is what the
Ozzies call "mild". Now we had so much surf that my mate Kim
and I ended up sitting on the deck drinking beers at the end
saying "somebody else go", just surf-sick. It was a bit like
getting locked up in the candy store until you couldn't take
it anymore, tho there's chockies and carmels and cremes coming
out your ears, all you want is a beer and a nap, hahaha. Ya
get that.

Anyways, she's highly recommended as the richest wave factory
on the planet and much of it going empty. Only hitch is its
as far away from here as you can get, whether you fly east or
west, its about a full 24 hours travel from San Francisco,
an hour or so to LA, 13 hours to Sydney, 4 more to Perth
and a 3 hour drive south. But once you get there, BUNYIP BABY!

I've finished building my beach shack at Gnarabup and its
available as a vacation rental if anyone is interested, fares
are cheap right now and its off-season. The house is filth
and a short walk through the bush to Gas Bay and Grunters.
Alright, I've had enuff for the mo. Somebody else go =-)

OXO,
Fang

Gotta agree with ya Fang.

Not for the weekend surfer, not even for the 3-4 surfs
a week surfer, but for the surfer who looks to the ocean
on a daily - sometimes twice or thrice daily - then the
south western corner of WA is the place on this planet.

Pull out the atlas and check the 60th parallel. Open ocean
right around the planet - consistently pushed from west to
east. The 40th parallel is the home run of the "Roaring
Forties" - the old schooner and galleon highway, broken
only by South America, running under the Cape of Good Hope.
The maxima of oceanic stretches, and the maxima of consistent
trade winds, just needing that little push upward to the
north to make the connection with WA.

Plenty of big push down there, and none of this 3-4-5-6 days
of the month like other planetary locations famous for big
swell. Down here its more like 22-23-24 days of the month.

One thing's for sure ... Fang's got the right idea about
the place to build a beach shack.

And speaking about big waves, if you missed the story
about the absolutely longest surfbreak in the entire
galaxy, then it is now available on the web at:

Well, this is all fine and dandy but do you actually surf? Anyone can
buy a surfboard and buy a plane ticket to any where on this planet.
But do you surf?

I have seen you in this newsgroup since '93 and from all indications
you are nothing more than a surf-hag.

You enjoy the surf lifestyle minus the 'real' surfing.

Give me your address, I am going to buy you a cookie sheet and get you
on the right track. When I get out of the water after a full day of
charging ledging reef waves I am hungry for some fresh baked cookies.

So, Foondoggy, you got on me before about asking jb to apologize to Fang. Now
he's calling her a surf hag. Imagine that, our beloved Nancy. Should I just be
politically correct and eat some tea and crumpets?

Next topic. Jb, are you not the one and only t-bone? I always kind of liked
you. What is the deal here?

And the earth split open just below jb, revealing the fires of hell. And
he was slowly consumed with much wailing and lamentations. So endth the
heresy of jb.

-Foon (a Fang fan for sure, and I bet I'd like her cookies too)

Maybe Fang will bake me a pie next time she's in the kitchen?
