Almost all machines nowadays take multiple coins to start the game, and
keep track of fractional credits. How about a new idea: a Partial
Special?
It would be an award that is more common than a Special, but still very
hard to get. (Think of the early 80's Bally tables: they were littered
with playfield Specials, but it was tricky to get them.) The player
would get the THWACK and the opportunity to buy the next game at a
discount, or possibly free games if multiple Partial Specials are hit.
About the only changes required of the software would be the elimination
of the "lose-all-partial-credits-after-Ball-1" rule. The game should be
able to keep track indefinitely of fractional credits.
How about it? I'd love to hear more THWACKS when I play, but also keep
the operators in business :-)

This idea might take a little getting used to, especially for new
players, but I think it could work....
