It would help if you could tell us if your patches are up to date, and a
little more about your environment.

Can't say if it will fix it but OSS497c fixes a LOT of problems
with 5.0.5 - I don't see it listed above - use

customquery listpatches | head -1

to see if it (and any other) patches are installed/missing.

Kernel trap 0x...E is almost always a hardware problem. If the machine's
been running for a couple of weeks, it may mean that something's changed or
failed.

We are told that a similar panic was corrected by the HP EFS version
5.54a. A bit of searching on the HP web site shows that the newest
version is 5.58a, and a page that points to various versions is at:

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/revision/1912.html

It looks like 5.48a was the last version claiming to support your
Proliant 1600. Later versions have this note:

" Note: EFS 5.58 contains the new hp ProLiant Advanced System Management
" Driver "cpqasm" which only supports servers with Advanced System
" Management capabilities (ASM). EFS 5.58 does not contain the legacy
" System Management Driver "cpqw". System Management Driver support "cpqw"
" for legacy servers can be obtained from EFS 5.46. It is important to
" note that ProLiant servers can not load both drivers simultaneously.
" Installing EFS 5.58 on a pre-ASM server will complete successfully
" without loading the hp ProLiant Advanced System Management Driver.
" Without System Management Driver support the Insight Management Agents
" will not provide full functionality. For pre-ASM servers it is highly
" recommended that users retain "cpqw" support released in EFS 5.46. For
" more information on the System Management Driver Update please refer to
" the EFS man pages.

I _think_ this means you can install 5.58a as long as you first install
something (your 5.44a might be sufficient, or you might want to go with
their recommended 5.46a or 5.48a) containing the old "cpqw" driver.

The notes on EFS releases 5.50a through 5.56a refer to 5.48a for "cpqw";
5.58a refers to 5.46a. I don't know what to make of that; you might
need help from HP Support to untangle this.

Further digging in our bug database makes it look like the problem may
have been in "cpqw" itself; and HP's notes seem to indicate that this
driver disappeared after EFS 4.48a, so I don't see how it can have been
fixed in 5.54a.

One customer who was having the problem fixed it by simply turning off
some Compaq (HP) EFS drivers he wasn't using. In that case the drivers
he turned off were: cled cpqw crom csmu. You would of course have to
determine which of those you are beneficially using, and keep them. The
evidence I have does not make it clear which of the four drivers caused
the problem -- it could have been any one or any combination up to all
four. As I said, there were hints that it was "cpqw", but only hints.
So you might start by turning that one off.

Hello,

thank you for the hints!

We think that we stop for the first time the cpqw-driver.
If the machine don't panic in the next three weeks we are going to
update the driver, because every two weeks we normally had a panic.

Now my next problem arise:
Where can I found the cpqw-driver?
I didn't found any cpqw in my ps-list and I don't know where the
startup-script is located.

In my sco-manual I didn't found an info.
Thanks for any hints,

Hi Thomas Hartmann

You mentioned HP EFS Version, but this is meant for Compaq Proliant
Server right?

* Compaq Extended Feature Supplement (ver 5.44a)

We are told that a similar panic was corrected by the HP EFS version
5.54a. A bit of searching on the HP web site shows that the newest

My server is HP LH4r, and have kind of similar Kernel Panic K_Trap
problem also. Do you have any idea where could DL any patches from HP
for HP LH 4r Server?

And I've run through all kind of hardware diagnostic test which
provided by HP Navigator CD, it din't show any Hardware fault.

Thanks.
