I saw all the predictions range from 28m to 38m. It seems that no one made
the right call.

Did it break Episode 2's record?

What Episode 2 record? If you're talking biggest opening weekend, that's
Spiderman with over $100 mil.

Horses ain't at the wire yet--

Remember the old saying (not said in Hollywood *enough*):
"You make the first week's money from the people walking IN....
You make the *second* week's money from the people walking OUT."

Derek Janssen (and if they walk out *early*, you got troubles)

It'll definitely drop off next weekend because that's when those brainless
Soccer Moms will be again dragged through the muliplexes by their spawns but
this time it'll be to see Disney's "Lilo & Stitch".

Everything else in your charmed life must be pretty peachy if you can
find the time to be pissed at total strangers for taking their kids to
a movie.

Not by a long shot. Episode 2 first Friday to Sunday was $80 million.

Todd,
I wish your mom would take me to a movie (she's like totally hot).
"Mrs. McNeeley, here we are, you got me into your house, you give me
a drink, you-- put on music, now you start opening up your personal life
to me and tell me your husband won't be home for hours... Mrs. McNeeley,
you're trying to seduce me! Aren't you?"

However, unlike SCOOBY-DOO, LILO & STITCH will have a lot of repeat
business. I saw L&S at a sneak preview showing this weekend and it was
(IMHO) the best Disney animated feature since THE LION KING.

Really. Which classic Japanese animated feature from the 60's did Lilo
& Stitch plagiarize?

And it's been a while since prime suspect Jeffrey Katzenberg escaped to
Dreamworks and we stopped concocting plagiarism theories about the other Disneys...

The film hasn't even come out yet, but already "Stitch" is overexposed.

Big deal. Stitch and the rest of the movie's cast are all original
characters. No basis on any familiar public domain story this time around, and
so no preselling. Because of that Disney had to give Stitch a lot of exposure
so that people would know who he was. And from what I heard, the L&S cast are
good enough to deserve all that exposure.
Lemme tell you I wish the Iron Giant was overexposed.
