After making a few phone calls to three different area codes, I found
the status of Iowa spur highways placed on the chopping block at the
end of last year (as per the chart I handed out at the Omaha meeting)
to wildly vary. This is what I have found out:

-314: Is now Palo Alto N28. The signs came down April 16. Thus, my
pictures are now historical records.
-315: Is now Pocahontas C56. The signs came down sometime between
March 20 and today. Ditto for my pictures, overcast skies and all.
-195: Will become Pocahontas C15 on May 12.
-142: Appanoose Co. said the engineer was going to discuss(/settle?)
the matter on Monday, and I could call him Tuesday. Signs still up.
-102: Mahaska Co. said they gave the G5T shields to the DOT months
ago, and I should call the Fairfield office. Fairfield told me it
would be "shortly" and a matter of "weeks" at the most. Sadly, he
told me that state law restricts possession of signs, related to laws
passed after people stole them and were prosecuted. He said that even
if it was a decommissioned highway, they can't and wouldn't be able to
give them out. :-( :-( As a matter of form I will call Emmetsburg
anyway and see what they say up there.
-107 and 122: Cerro Gordo Co. said the signs are still up, but will
come down by July 1.
-49: Taylor Co. said they don't take it until July 1. I asked if that
meant the signs would come down that day, and she said she did not
know. She suggested the Bedford DOT office, but my call attempts gave
me five rings and then an earsplitting tone.
