Someone on rec.music.gaffa mentioned a group called TILT
who supposedly did a cover of 'Running Up That Hill'
This group supposedly sounds something like Front242, so since
I never heard again from that original poster, does anyone
HERE know anything about this song? Someone suggested that
it might actually have been the group HILT. I'm clueless.

Please respond with any info you have! Thanks in advance!

The group is called Tilt and the track is off of their album "Aliens and
Orgasms." They have one earlier album which escapes me. I haven't heard
them, but I have heard that they sound like Ministry meets Laibach. I've
been tempted to pick it up for the Kate cover but I've only found it on
import. I think its distributed through Antler Subway.

On another note, could someone post who in Front 242 does what. I saw their
concert in Boston and only 3 of the 4 members were on stage. Is the fourth
only a studio dude or what? For random trivia the "Victor the Cleaner" mix
of Rhythm of Time is named after a character in the movie "La Femme Nikita"
called Victor the Cleaner.

I have that song on tape. I'm pretty sure the group is called TILT,
as opposed to HILT. It is a fantastic version of running up that hill.
The drums on it are just unbelievable. I don't know much about the
band TILT, but I think they also did a nice cover of a madonna song.
(Never thought a song written by madonna might actually sound good ;-).
I may be wrong about TILt covering the madonna song, but someone did
do a good job of it. There is also an industrial cover of Tainted love
(soft cell). Perhaps TILT did this also. I get so confused ;-)

There is a great cover of Tainted Love that was done by Coil several years
ago. Could this be the one you are thinking of? It is VERY slow and dirge-y.
Kind of industrial/gothic sounding. It is a wonderful cover, but I would
to know if someone else has done an even more industrial cover of the
song.

The Coil version turns the meaning of the song around to refer directly
to AIDS. All proceeds from the 12" of the song went to AIDS research.
Also, if you ever get the chance, check out the video for this. It is
incredible, one of the best videos ever. And, of course there is a
cameo appearance by Marc Almond as the victim's evil lover.
