Gideon and wxWindows - how to add translation

I'm using kdevelop 3.0 a5 (gideon) and have created a wxWindows-Project
using the wizard. Now I have been trying the last 5 hours to add a
translation to the program (Project -> Add Translation) but it just
won't work. First, there is no dir po/. Then, the Makefile.am was
missing. But to me it seems as if gideon just refuses to create the
myapp.pot file. The created .po-files are empty and I have no idea what
to do next. I tried to understand where the file should have been
created and why it isn't, but ended up in having changed several files
several times without being successful.
If anyone could help me out or give me a hint how I include the
translation in the Makefile I would really appreciate!
If you think this is not the right group to ask this question, I would
appreciate ideas for alternatives as well...

Christoph, ich bin gerade dabei Gideon ins Deutsche zu übersetzen,
so wie ich das für KDevelop 2.x auch schon getan habe. Ich habe hier
schon mehrfach gepostet, dass es keinen Sinn hat eine Übersetzung
anzufangen, wenn sich die Dialoge und die Oberfläche noch ändern.
Es ist noch kein Message-Freeze und wenn Du Pech hast, kommen beim
nächsten Skriptlauf auf dem KDE-Server wieder 200 fuzzies dazu,
die man dann direkt nochmal übersetzen darf. Und wehe, das englische
Proof reading Team auf die Idee sich Gideon vorzuknöpfen.
Also, wer schon immer mal eine komplette Übersetzung haben wollte,
sollte damit besser bis zur Release warten ...
