[JTF] Headmasters ep1 Subbed Transcript/Review (long)

*Flippy Change Symbol: Autobot to Autobot.*
A metal hand taps idly at a keyboard, clearly board.
Narrator: "Back on Acenia..."
"Isn't there anything we can do?" asks Hot Rod
to no one in particular. On the other side of the
room Blurr, Kup, Spike, and Carly watch the
strange light approaching through space.
"nnn... It can't be..."
"What is it Kup?"
"...Just remembering a nightmare from four
million years ago."
"Four million years ago?" asks Spike.
"The battle was terrible..." Kup begins to go
wavy as he talks, and we transition into
flashback mode. Megatron, Starscream,
Soundwave, and Thundercracker fly across
the night sky firing down below them.
Kup: "So terrible that some citizens left
Cybertron forever trying to escape the
fires of war." Optimus and the original
Bot's fight back. Explosions billow above
Cybertron.
The screen wavers and we're back to Kup
in the present. "I think that tragedy maybe repeated..."
"That's a great old story, Kup" says Spike,
"But it's not going to help us resolve this situation today."
"Well, I'm sorry," laughs Kup good naturedly.
"What'sthis?What'sthis?What'sthis?"
asks Blurr suddenly, pointing at the screen,
"Somethingiswrongwrongwrong!"
"Hey what's wrong?" asks Hot Rod, joining
them from behind.
"Thatlightisgettingbiggerbiggerbigger!"
"Can you enlarge it?" growls Kup.
"I'mworkingonitrightnow.Don'tdon'tdon'tcomplain."
Blurr works the controls. The screen begins to
zoom in stages and the dot of light gets bigger
and bigger, until something can just be made
out behind...
"It's not a star," realizes Spike, "It's a ship!"
"And a big one." adds Hot Rod.
"Battleship?Thisisserious.Whatwhatwahtshouldwedo?"
"Calm down Blurr." says Kup. "We don't know
that it's an enemy."
"He's right," agrees Carly. "It might be on our side."
"I'll go investigate!" Hot Rod turns and races from
the room before anyone can object. Blurr looks
after him.
"Wherareyougoing?Where?Where?Where?"
"Take care of everything here, Kup," calls back
Hot Rod as he vanishes out the door. Kup
watches him go with a blank, unsurprised expression.
In space, lights glow bright from the prow of
the mysterious ship.
Narrator: "What a mess! While the Autobots
and Decepticons are fighting over Cybertron,
has a new enemy come along?" (Now he's
editorializing! I'd definitely trim this guys lines
in a translation.)
*Flippy Symbol Change: Decepticon to Autobot.*
The Aerialbots fly up into the air and merge into Superion.
Narrator: Meanwhile, on planet Cybertron..."
(For what ever reasong the animation
suddenly gets really good for most of this
one fight, "Call of the Primitives" good.
Then it goes back to its normal, average
quality right after Prime and Galvy fight. Just FYI.)
Abominous opens fire but the Aerialbot
giant dodges and shoots back. Abominus
jumps to avoid the shot. He and Superion
charge each other full-out across a wide plaza.
They smash together with titanic force.
Abominous swings a mighty punch and Superion
leans back to kick him across the stomach.
Cut to Devestator, carefully taking a bead down
the end of his massive riffle. From the top of
a building Optimus Prime spots him and leaps
out into the air. He comes down in a powerfull
kick against Devestator's right shoulder,
knocking the huge con to the side. Devy's
shot goes astray just as the other two
giants break apart. The beam takes Abominus
right in the chest, smashing him to the
ground at Galvatron's feet.
"Idiot!" screams Galvatron. "Damn you
Autobots! Take this!" He rears back and
fires his fusion cannon. Optimus tenses
and leaps away to the side, avoiding the
blast. He rolls the landing and comes up
with his riffle ready.
"Leave it to me, Commander!" Jazz runs up
behind Prime. "Go for Vector Sigma, like now."
"I can't leave you like this Jazz!" Prime argues.
"Commander!" The three Autobot
Triplechangers run in from the right. "Leave this to us!"
"Ok, Triplechangers. I'm counting on you."
Prime and Jazz turn and run for V.S. together.
Defensor's fist shoots out at Devestator,
scoring a glancing blow. He swings again
as the two lock together into a grapple.
Defensor overpowers the combined
Constructicons and tosses Devestator away
to the ground.
Nearby, Blitzwing, in jet mode, chases
Sunstreaker down an empty highway, strafing
the ground just behind the Autobot's wheels
with laser fire. Sunstreaker manages to stay
just ahead until the road vanishes into the
safety of a golden dome. Like an idiot Blitzwing
flies right into the dome and goes careening
off toward's the ground.
*Flippy Change Symbol: Autobot to Decepticon*
A large unit of Decepticons have the vastly
outnumbered Throttlebots and Dinobots
pinned in a "gully" and fire is being exchanged
fiercely.
Narrator: "At that moment, the Computer Base
is about to fall into Decepticon hands!"
"Surrender, Autobots" calls Weirdwolf as he
tosses a strange ball leeping with blue-green
flame in one hand, "Or do you all wish to be
scrapped together?"
"Me Grimlock!" calls back the T-Rex below.
"Me never see you before.You new Decepticon?"
"I'm Decepticon Headmaster, Weirdwolf." the
other calls back, holding up the flaming ball.
"I'm Skullcruncher!" calls the robot beside him,
holding a flaming orange sphere.
"And I'm Mindwipe!" calls the last (apparently sphere-less)
Con.
"Headmasters?" growls Grimlock, "Don't
know what that means, but me-Grimlock
Smash You!" He breathes a huge burst of
flames up at the Cons. Weirdwolf dodges
without effort.
"I won't be scrapped by a moron like you!"
He throws the ball down and it explodes when
it hits the flames. Wolf and Skull begin tossing
flamming spheres down in earnest. One hits
right in front of the Throttlebots, blowing them
all backwards. Slag charges in dino-mode but
Mindwipe spots him.
"Leave the rest to me." He puts his hands
together and chants. Glowing rings ripple out
and hit Slag, who yawns and collapses onto his
tummy contentedly. "I'm getting sleepy" he
mumbles with eyes already closed. Then the
rings hit Grimlock and Goldbug. "Grimlock sleep
now..." A moment later all the Base's defenders
collapse into slumber.
"I did it. My hypnotism is quite effective."
brags Mindwipe
Galvatron pushes past the three Headmasters.
"Well done, Mindwipe. Now Vector Sigma is ours! Bwahahahahahahaah-"
"YOU THINK THINGS ARE GOING THAT
WELL, GALVATRON?" Rumbles a very deep
voice from out of nowhere. Galvatron stops and
looks up to see the huge battleship the Autobots
detected earlier hanging above the city.
"Who said that?"
A subtitle informs us that this massive behemoth
is the "Giant Battleship, Maximus." The ship
hangs in the air for a moment above the Decepticons
and then a door slides open on one of the "feet" to
the front. Four vehicles emerge and transform as they fall.
"TRANSFORM! HEAD ON!"
The four new robots land squarely before
the Decepticons.
"You guys are..." gasps Weirdwolf in surprise.
The earth-toned robot in the lead steps forward.
"Long time no see, Weirdwolf."
"Who are you?" Galvatron demands. "Tell me your names!"
"We are the Headmaster warriors! I am Group Commander Chromedome!"
"I'm Hardhead!" announces the green tank/robot
to his right. "I'm Highbrow" adds a dark blue
and silver copter/robot. "And I'm Brainstorm."
finishes an aqua-colored jet/robot.
"What? Headmaster warriors?"
"It's time to settle our fight once and for all, Weirdwolf!"
announces Chromedome raising his gun.
"The nerve of you! I can think of nothing better, I accept!"
The newly arrived Headmasters face off against
their Decepticon counterparts, who are backed
by the Stunticons.
Narrator: "Four Headmasters have appeared suddenly
in the midst of this great battle between Autobot
and Decepticon. Who are they? What do they
want? A new battle for Cybertron is about to begin!"
Fade to black.
END EPISODE #1.
Random Thoughts:
I have all the episodes of Headmasters in
the original Japanese (which I understand
only a handfull of words in) and the show
never really thrilled me a lot. I have to say,
being ablle to understand what's being said
makes for a HUGE improvement. Now that
I can understand what the plot is the writting
in these episodes seems a lot better and
there are a number of very interesting points
raised (Vector Sigma's controling the fate of
Cybertron, the idea of Acenia being intended
as a second Cybertron, ect). There's more I
can say, but maybe later, I'm a bit pooped
after typing all this. Anyone have any thoughts
and/or comments on the ep, and/or my
presentation of it? What do you think?
