So, I wandered over to Amazon.com searching for the new Sony Classics
releases of the complete works of György Ligeti. I was browsing through
the various volumes deciding which to buy first, when Amazon offered me
a hint.

Hey, it said, people who like the collected works of György Ligeti also
like the movies "Brazil" and "Yellow Submarine" on DVD.

It was, in my case, completely correct. I'd rate Ligeti as the most
stunning contemporary composer, and "Brazil" is probably my #2 favorite
movie of all time. "Yellow Submarine" is definitely my favorite
animated feature.

I just find it a bit bizarre that there's something about the wiring of
all those human brains out there, that means that if you like Ligeti,
you'll probably like "Brazil" and "Yellow Submarine". I mean, it's like
saying that if you like garlic, you'll probably like playing tennis and
the color blue.

[ PS mobshop.com has a really good price on the Criterion 3 DVD "Brazil"
set right now. ]

I concluded that Amazon knows me too well
when it stuck its hand down my pants and its tongue in my ear.

Nothing worse than an over-familiar robot.

That's odd. I just watched "Brazil" last night for the first time. Rather
strange movie.
I think I liked it, but I'm not sure I could sit through it again for a long
time.

that's due to all the other activities you were engaging in while watching
the movie. don't blame a poor movie for your morning-after regrets.

Possibly. It was around 12:30 PM when I started watching it after a
long day. Accually now that I've had a little time to think about it, I
am beginning to like it more. it just took a while to sink in.
