UF: Altered Appleseed
Don't Let's Start
What you are about to read (or skip over, if you're not into fanfic) takes
place in the Undocumented Features universe, but is not the fourth volume.
Over the next couple of months, a planned three of these vignettes, if you
will, will be posted, showing various things occurring during the gap
between Out In the Cold and Crossroads. They aren't part of the main story,
but they're ideas we thought were worth sharing, so...
The piece of work about to be posted is something I actually wrote some
time ago, with the aid of Vaughn "Reality" Gross (pal...@wpi.wpi.edu), but
before it could be posted, the mainstream UF universe had to catch up. The
events in _Altered Appleseed_ were, in real space, the first mention of the
events which were recently posted toward the end of _Out In the Cold:
Undocumented Features Volume Three_, as a historical sidenote.
The reason I'm posting this instead of MegaZone is simple. He's busy, and I
have nothing to do. Besides, to the best of my memory, Zoner was not involved
with AA; it was something I began on my own, and Vaughn took an interest and
became a coauthor about halfway through.
Now for the notes for the UF Universe historians: This story takes place sixty-
six years after the end of Out In the Cold.
For the somewhat concerned: acknowledgements of every copyright I could find
that I broke in this are at the end. If I put them in now I'd give away
some cameos.
For the technically curious: No, a Garland will not fit in the cargo space of
a VF-1FS Hyper Valkyrie. I built it in Olympus, using the blueprints I had
in my Valkyrie's onboard computer and various adapted Landmate parts.
