My $.02:
I have had this problem. The first answer is usually to eat bananas for the
potassium.
I tried to solved it for myself by working my calf strength during my
preseason. But what really seem to solve it, was when I repostioned my back
foot strap forward about two inches.
I have not had the problem since repositioning my rear straps; however, my
calves are stronger, too, from new activities like naut, basketball, and
more
running.
Luck,
Bob

I think his last post to alt.surfing was October 11th. You know, I'm awfully
gullible sometimes, but this "buddy chat" felt real and I have posted it
verbatim. I guess it's up to each one of us to decide what to do with it. If

Mick. Just stay that way and keep on postin.

Thanks for saying that Surff
You know, this is a funny little newsgroup. I belong to a running group
on Compuserve about the same size as this one with a small band of regulars who
know each other well. About 2 years ago the daughter of one of the regulars
posted a message announcing the death of her father, a newsgroup regular. The
response from the rest of the newsgroup was immediate - condolences to the
family, tales of 3D meetings at races, and memories of posts and advice he had
offered. Some of the group even attended his funeral - the family posted to the
group several times with messages of gratitude. I do not remember a single post
from anyone questioning wether he really died, it was true and we accepted it
as such.
Not so with this group - I don't blame you all for being skeptical, I
guess I'm becoming so too. What it says about this group I'm not sure - if the
people hanging out here aren't real, what's the point ??
Sorry for the diatribe
Mick Evans
well, i think he is alive and thriving. his family knew (oops, i mean "
knows") how he dwelved in the newsgroup scene, and i think they would have told
us if he really died. plus i am sure he gets plenty of behind the scenes
e-mail like the rest of us, and someone would have been told. and again, i
doubt his son would use his screen name, trust me. i have kids, they insist on
their own identity, especially on aol.
bob just saw a great opportunity to start a messy ball of yarn and he took it,
way to go bob!
of course, if it is true, i will feel like a total heel.

Jesus freakin' Christ, Mick! Go to Deja News' Interest Finder and
type in Gle...@aol.com. Bob is alive and well. And don't get
stupid on me by saying that it is his son making 100 post per day to
20 different newgroups.
What it says about this group is that we are more technically advanced
that your Compuserve counter parts.
Let's see: Bob "dies" and WhirlaWhip shows up, Bob and WhiralaWhip
both use AOL. Bob still posts in other newsgroups but not
alt.surfing. WhirlAwhip posts in alt.surfing but not in other
newsgroups.

I liked Bob's posts, even the thread where he insisted that just about
everybody who replied was a racist. Around that time he seemed to have lost
focus and his posts became more convoluted and bizarre. As he seemed to
enjoy handiwork, perhaps he took up making hats using old world techniques,
thus explaining his descent into the world of offshore hot showers and shark
scarecrows. Regardless, he was a unique character and I miss his posts.
Peace,

I agree, Bob has "diarrhea keyboard fingers" but with essentially not much
pre-thought.
Bob is not dead, but where he is at now is just as good!
Died on a "special wave" give me a break!
Yeah, it's not really feasible to "connect" and establish a rapport and
relationship with all the personalities in alt.surfing as lots are fake.
Then again there are many that are real.
But lots of us are also net savvy and can figure out from the evidence that
Bob truly wasn't dead as he had continued to post elsewhere. So we weren't
being unsympathetic, we just saw that he was pulling your leg.

Sheesh Gamivia. Perhaps you missed the psycho-babble and "mad as a hatter"

us! But yes, you are correct, you and jb are are the only sane ones here.

I question that Bob could be creative enough to be Whirlawhip.
However, could be. In a way your post makes good sense. Then, a lot of things
"could be" on the internet. That was my point to Mick, this is the last place
to search for truth. So, if you get burned by it, don't sweat it.
Look at Garmivia and SurfGeo's reply to "waterworks" re: Jose Borrero. The
truth was right there in waterworks post and they didn't see it. SurfGeo went
off on one of his long gutteral posts for nothing.
How do you know that I don't live in Florida full time, richer than God, and
own part of a small island in the Bahamas with a primo beach break? It wouldn't
be news to broadcast, now would it?

No matter what everyone said about him, I thought he was a good guy. I hate to
see that he has passed away.

Don't worry, Surff, Bob's memory will live on in the clever idea
usenet posting robots that he created shortly before his sad and
untimely death. It has a permanent line to aol and an unlimited
number of accounts, posting more or less continuously, or so I've
heard, althought this fact is difficult to detect, as, rather
strangely, all of them are Gle...@aol.com.
Why else would I have seen just yesterday the magnificent post "Use of
video recorders for dyslexic gymnasts while practising multiple-twist
ski technique on a windsurfer"?
What a wonderful tribute to a life that we should all be grateful for.
Bob lives on! He has touched us all.

Uhm- 'touched', or as we say in New England: 'tetched' is just about the
word I'd use.

Hey Gamivia, maybe you *are* the only sane one here! ;-)
I liked Bob, always have, but of course you don't have to. Bob was but
one ingredient in this complex and tasty stew called alt.surfing. Bob
loves the water. He will surf at all costs. He may come up with some
doozies, but you have to admit, the man isn't afraid to throw an idea
out there for us to chomp on. Can you imagine sitting in the lineup with
the guy? Talk about whiling away the time during the lulls! I'm not
going to try to change your opinion, you're entitled to it, but Bob is a
unique character. Alt.surfing is incrementally more homogenized without
him.
Bob, come back, some people miss you!!!! And bring your damn scarecrow
too!
-johnw
I think Surff should hit the medicine tube.
thats it! we all crash the party at alt.gymnastics and relate our experiences
with bob and repost some old stuff, kinda like the old "its your life" shows.
the members of the other group wont know what hit them. its almost like a
frtaernity "panty raid" if we go in mass force! too bad jb and carson will be
gone, they would surely have their heads spinning
like my other post said, i am in. i will repost "search for gleshna"

I was kidding.....I don't know exactly what you were saying but I was kidding,

oh no jb, i got her pics to prove it. i researched it, she aint gleshna.
gleshna is in deep, deep hiding.
watch it, now you are starting to wear out your welcome. gymnastics is maybe
the hardest "spectator" sport, but surfing is a lifestyle and mental state of
being. only certain combinations of mental and physical prowess and
enlightenment are allowed. surfers are gods. everyone wears our clothes to try
to be like us, but it doesnt work. i dont see people wearing shirts with
pictures of boys playing on swingsets to make people think they are gymnists.
the only reason people become gymnastics coaches is to play with little girls,
see what happened to bob?
i rest my case. it was fun while it lasted, but now I am pissed.

I'm *so* impressed.
Please stop talking about gymnastics in a surfing newsgroup. It is way
off-topic and your ISP wouldn't like it.
Now go back to your play-pen, er, I mean gym.

Love,
BinkyCupCakes.. ;)
My favorite was the one about tri fins. I think he asked if they worked.

I don't do pommel horse, our gym doesn't have one, sorry. I did try mushroom a
yr ago and it's hard. I do only tumbling, vaulting, some bars and low beam, I
ain't taken my chances on that thing. Tell me now, does it hurt when the board
flies up, cracks your nuts and hit you in the face?

If you saw God in the late 60's, it was me.

Honestly, I have never landed on my nuts and hopefully never will. I have
landed on my head once and that's freaky. I have had many many many many many
many twisted wrists and ankles. Now I have shin splints and it's hard for me
to do any tumbling but I really don't pay too much attention to pain so I think
I'll live with it.
My favourite is the very latest.
Alt.surfing or not, why should gymnists only be allowed to relish its
enjoyment? That would be a criminal waste of Bob's talent, so here

Your welcome, see I never get any sleep so I am usually really moody all the
time but I got 9 hrs of sleep so I should be happy for about a week until the
energy all goes away. So is surfing really fun? I am going down to Texas
(Galveston this Tuesday). I wanna try it. Afterall, I do have good balance.

Actually, when you communicate to just one individual you should do it by
email. Taking up bandwidth in the newsgroup for "your opinion" e.t.c. is bad
netiquette ( no offense ). I posted my reply to the newsgroup since I felt
that you set a good example.
Email coming soon.
