Richard Hoagland's presentation in Columbus is being co-sponsored by:

MidOhio Research Associates, Inc.

and

The Ohio State University Branch of
the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics

The findings of the Mars Mission scientists over the last 11 years has been
nothing short of phenomenal. Over the last several years Hoagland has
briefed all major NASA facilities. In February of 1992 he briefed the
United Nations. During the week of May 9, he will be briefing the White
House. His briefings in Columbus on May 25 and May 26 will be the first
public presentations of the White House briefing. This is a major coup for
the city of Columbus.
To set up telephone interviews prior to his appearance here, or to set
up personal interviews while he is in Columbus, contact Frank Reams at

"What's Really Going on With Mars Observer?"

A detailed review of the mysterious events, including apparent deliberate
contamination of the crucial camera, leading up to the dramatic and
baffling "loss" last summer of NASA's Mars Observer spacecraft. The
crucial backdrop for understanding of this enigmatic development is a
10-year multi-disciplinary investigation into the possibility of
intelligently-designed artifacts on Mars, conducted by Richard C. Hoagland
for the last ten years, which Mars Observer could have verified...if the
mission had proceeded. Mr. Hoagland is author of "The Monuments of Mars: A
City on the Edge of Forever," and founder and principle investigator of the
on-going independent scientific inquiry into the "Intelligence Hypothesis":
The Mars Mission.

Additional Subjects:

The Monuments of Mars

Richard C. Hoagland will detail, with copius NASA Viking images, 3-D
computer graphics and official video animation, the on-going scientific
inquiry he is leading into the possibility of artifacts on Mars. Including
-- newly-discovered "connections" between the "Monuments of Mars" and the
"monuments of Earth," as well as the outlines of a revolutionary
"hyperdimensional physics" and implied technology apparently communicated
by the geometry found within these monuments... Recent extensions of this
physics -- including implications for long-term biological evolution, as
well as a radical explanation for NASA's recent confirmation of the first
"asteroid moon" -- will also be presented and discussed.

Clementine: The Secret "Moon/Mars" Connection...

For the first time in over 30 years, the United States has just concluded
an unmanned military mission to the Moon -- called Clementine -- a mission
carried out almost totally in secret. As Clementine winds up returning the
first images from any lunar mission in over 20 years, Mr. Hoagland will
reveal the results of a year and half-long extension of the independent
"Mars Missions Investigation" to the previous Moon missions. With 3-D
manned and unmanned NASA images, state-of-the-art computer graphics and
23-year old Apollo Astronaut Mission transcripts, Hoagland will detail his
Team's major discovery -- the real reason for the Pentagon's sudden,
"secret" unmanned mission to the Moon...

Bio:

Richard C. Hoagland is a former NASA Consultant, and during the historic
Apollo Missions to the Moon was CBS News science advisor to Walter
Cronkite. For the last 11 years Hoagland has led an outside scientific
Team in a critically acclaimed independent analysis of possible
intelligently-designed artifacts on Viking images of Mars. In 1993,
Hoagland was awarded the International Angstrom Medal for Excellence in
Science for that research. In the last year and a half, he and his Team's
investigations have been quietly extended to include previous NASA missions
to the Moon -- with astonishing results.

THE ANGSTROM FOUNDATION

ANGSTROM FOUNDATION AWARDS FIRST INTERNATIONAL
MEDAL FOR EXCELLENCE IN SCIENCE TO MARS MISSION
FOUNDER, RICHARD C. HOAGLAND, FOR IMPLICAITONS
STEMMING FROM CONTROVERSIAL MARS INVESTIGATION

Lars-Jonas Angstrom, head of the Angstrom Foundation of Sweden, presented
the prestigious Angstrom medal, for the first time outside of Sweden, for
excellence in science, to Richard C. Hoagland today in Washington, D.C.
For the past 80 years, the medal has been awarded to scientists in Sweden,
primarily for achievement in the field of physics, or to encourage
significant future achievements based on current work.

The Board of the Angstrom Foundation decided to award this year's medal to
Mr. Hoagland for those aspects of the Mars investigation relating to
"hyperdimensional physics": this area of study is based on Mr. Hoagland's,
and his colleagues', successful decoding of a redundant mathematics and
geometry found in a complex of potential artifacts on the planet Mars.

Lars Angstrom is the great-grandson of Anders-Jonas Angstrom, professor in
astronomy and physics at Uppsala University, after whom the international
standard for the measurement of electomagnetic radiaton "the angstrom" is
named. Knut Angstrom, Lars Angstrom's grandfather, also a professor in
physics, was proposed for a Nobel prize for his work in the field of
radiation physics. Tord Angstrom, Mr. Angstrom's father, was the first
Swedish civil aviator.

The Angstrom Foundation was created in 1988 by L. J. Angstrom to further
the family tradition of encouraging excellence in science. Its goals are
to broaden awareness of significant multidisciplinary achievement in the
international scientific community, and to invite collaborative problem-
solving based on possible breakthroughs in fundamental knowledge. Prior to
the creation of the Foundation, the medal was awarded by the University of
Uppsala.

I tutor people in astronomy at Ohio U., which is about 90 min. from
where Hoagland is going to give his spiel. Frankly, I think the guy
has crossed the line from science to conspiracy theory and pseudo
science. Has anyone sat down and blasted at his points one by one in
a reputable journal?

After reading the summary of his topic (Martian civilization, Martians
tampering with Mars Observer, etc.), I'd be embarrassed if Mr. Hoagland
were speaking at my university or city. I hope Columbus isn't expecting
a good scientist.

The deplorable Hoagland hoax must not in any way be connected to any
scientific Swedish institution. The so-called Angstrom medal, mentioned
in the "press-kit", is nowadays totally disassociated with any scientific
prestige.

I checked today with colleagues at Uppsala University and received
the following reply:

"The Angstrom foundation is a private foundation without connections to
Uppsala or any other university. The department of Physics in Uppsala,
where two professors Angstrom have been active, has no links with the
activities of Richard Hoagland. The department considers the Hoagland
project as speculative and unscientific and rejects it entirely.

Anders Marelius
(Head of department of physics, Uppsala university)"

I will refrain (with difficulty) from further comments...
