I am not even sure if my notes are even getting onto the network, but I
will try posting again anyway. I thought that I would recap the last
three Japanese TV shows that I just got through watching. Could someone
please quote a part of this note in the conference so I know that it is
getting through?
All three shows will be All Japan because New Japan was pre-empted for
three straight weeks.
All Japan 3\22
Toshiaki Kawada made Kenta Kobashi submit using his version of a
facelock. It was a really good match that lasted over 20 minutes with a
lot of good back and forth action. The crowd was really hot. ****
Tsuruta and Ogawa beat Misawa and Kikuchi in a solid 3 and a half star
match when Ogawa used the Brazo de Plata counter on an attempted sunset
flip by Kikuchi. Just another fine match between these guys. They have
been doing these matches for over two years and the crowd, and myself,
continue to pop for them.
All Japan 3\29
Danny Spivey pinned Akira Taue in a poor match. Both of these guys have
shown that they can be carried when in with good workers, but put
together, the result was predictably bad. A charitable **.
Stan Hansen pinned Kenta Kobashi in a stiff brawl that appeared to have
a potato bust open Kobashi's nose. Anyone who thinks of Stan Hansen as
the goober that the Desperado's were looking for should see him work
Japan. *** 1\2
Terry Gordy and Jumbo Tsuruta went to a 30 minute draw. A solid 3 star
match that could have been even better were the time limit 20 minutes
instead. Still, it was a good match.
All Japan 4/5
Mitsuharu Misawa pinned tag partner Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in a good 3 1\4
star match, that to me was disappointing. These guys are 2 of the top
10 workers in the world and could have done more. Anyway, Misawa used
his Tiger Driver for the pin.
Akira Taue pinned Toshiaki Kawada with three of his Golden Arm Bombers.
This match showed just how Taue can be carried by a good worker,
especially when he does not dog it. It also shows the difference in
booking philosophies of Shohei Baba and his American counterparts.
Would Vince McMahon have Savage do a job to Papa Shango after Shango had
done a job for Skinner? To quote Home, "I don't thinks so." Solid 4
star match.
