Hi,

My buddy was interested in buying the Steel 95' from Scuba Pro
but was turned off by the $300 price tag. He's got big lungs.
I told him that a nifty place like rec.scuba might be able to find
him a deal on some used tanks so I thought I'd throw out a leader.

Does anyone have info on used tanks, big, normal or small.
We're in the So. Cal. Area.

I was also interested in a pony bottle for myself for some light
scuba/snorkeling.

ThanX

Just my two cents...the Scubapro 95s seem to be very hard to find
used. The only ones I've seen have been been priced about $250
(because people know how popular they are?) A shop here in SLO had
some for $250 new, but I think that was some sort of "door buster"
special. (I ended up with used steel 72s, but I've rented 95s for
boat dives.)

These are way cool tanks, especially for boat diving...boat
compressors can fill 'em (2400 psi working pressure) and you don't
have to lug them very far when all you're doing is jumping off the
side!

However, unless you're a big-time air consumer, these big tanks don't
help much unless your buddy has one, too. (A buddy with an AL80 filled
to 2400-2600 on a boat will hit 500 psi when _you_ hit about 1000 psi
(if you're breathing at the same rate), and 1000 psi is a lot of air
in a 95. A super nice safety cushion, though...

If you and your buddy both have 95s, you probably want to be on a
computer if you are doing multiple dives...its easy to force LONG
surface intervals based on the tables using these big tanks. (Let's
see, new tank, $300; new computer, $600...just how much is this sport
costing me PER MINUTE, anyhow??)

I love these tanks...I wish they'd give one away with every C-Card :-).

Please forgive my jabbering...I haven't been diving in 3 weeks and I'm
feeling rather jittery....

Safe Diving,
Mark
