LIGHTHOUSE DESIGN ANNOUNCES HIGH-END PRESENTATION SOFTWARE FOR NeXT COMPUTERS

SAN JOSE, Calif., October 2, 1991. Lighthouse Design, Ltd. today introduced
Concurrence, the first presentation software application for the NeXT platform.
Taking full advantage of NeXT's highly integrated multimedia capabilities,
Concurrence allows users to create high-quality stand-alone presentations that
can be delivered on-line, complete with seamlessly incorporated voice
recordings, or output with text and graphics to any PostScript-compatible
device, from printers to 35mm slide makers.

Lighthouse Design, based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, made its announcement at a
press reception hosted by NeXT Computer, Inc. in conjunction with the Seybold
Computer Publishing Conference and Exposition, being held here through October
4.

"Concurrence is the only presentation application for ANY platform that lets
users simultaneously edit both presentations and outlines, without going back
and forth between different modes," said Steven P. Jobs, president and CEO of
NeXT. "With Concurrence presentation software, NeXT becomes the only
workstation to offer a fully integrated suite of productivity applications."

In addition to this "concurrence" feature, the high-end presentation
application has a View Browser that allows conceptually similar presentations
and complicated outlines to be managed and coordinated automatically.

"Just as with Diagram!, our popular business graphics program for the NeXT
platform, we created Concurrence with the needs of the professional user in
mind, addressing both high-end functionality and ease of use," said Jonathan
Schwartz, manager, sales and marketing for Lighthouse Design. "Of course,
working with the built-in capabilities of the NeXT platform makes our job that
much easier."

With the on-board microphone built into every NeXTstation computer, Concurrence
supports the desktop-based creation of presentations with voice accompaniment.
In addition, Concurrence supports the incorporation of any encapsulated
PostScript (EPS) or tagged image file format (TIFF) image. Powered by the
Motorola 68040 microprocessor, a NeXT workstation running Concurrence will also
feature PostScript slide transitions such as dissolves, wipes and scrolls.

Concurrence will ship with a "Prepare for Mail" feature, allowing users to
assemble stand-alone presentations and distribute them via NeXTmail to NeXT
users across the world. In addition, users can create auto-repeating
presentations.

"Concurrence provides yet another example of how applications created
specifically for NeXTstep can radically enhance the mainstream productivity of
groups of workstation users, no matter where those users may be located," said
Mike Slade, NeXT's executive director of marketing. "We believe Concurrence
will appeal to NeXT customers in all fields and will draw new customers to the
NeXT platform."

An advanced version of the product, called Concurrence Pro, will also be
available for people who create presentations professionally. Concurrence Pro
will include a large library of high-quality PostScript images from T/Maker's
ClickArt collection, providing users with all they need to produce high-impact
documents and presentations.

Price and Availability

Concurrence is expected to ship during the fourth quarter of 1991. Prices are
still being set, but each version will likely list for less than [DELETED],
with Concurrence Pro priced about [DELETED] higher than Concurrence. Both will
be available through NeXTConnection.
