Okay, I shall succumb to outside pressure.

After doublechecking the recent postings in sci.crypt and finding YABBFF
(yet another Baldwin-based fcrypt function), posted by an Italian, *AND*
after searching through Archie and finding several versions of the
fcrypt() software available for anonymous FTP, I have come to the
following conclusions:-

* Occam's Razor dictates that we must assume that anybody sufficiently
motivated can now get ahold of fcrypt().

* Hence anybody could wire it into "Crack".

* Hence it is better to post "Crack" with fcrypt installed so that as
many ordinary systems managers as possible have a password-checking tool
of equal specification to anything a cracker would.

* Therefore, in about a fortnight, once I've overhauled up the Crack
v3.1 release that I posted yesterday, I shall be posting Crack v3.2 with
fcrypt() installed to the usual places (alt.sources,alt.security,c.s.u).

Like the rest of Crack, I have tried to keep the version of fcrypt with
it portable, but it is a highly complex beast, so I cannot guarantee
that it will work properly, but I will see what I can do. It will
definitely work on Suns and Vaxen. Most other 32 bit machines too, with
a bit of configuring. I'll try to keep it up to date.
