Hip Hop's been around long enough to compile quite a nice list of one hit
wonders, and I was actually on the toilet shitting (where it's been proven
the majority of good ideas come) when I started thinking of all the dopest
one shots:

Mad Izm-Channel Live
Danger-Blahzay Blahzay
Flava in Your Ear-Craig Mack
They Want Efx- Das Efx (no matter how hard they tried to blow after this,
they're still basically one hit wonders)
My Name is D-Nice

Actually, I can't think of too many more, but I know there are. refresh my
memory people.

That one track by Style "Word to Daddy"?? That might be the name.... tight
track though.
"Victim of the Ghetto" by the College Boyz (that track name might be wrong
too).
"Juicy" by GTS (I'm not even sure of the name of the song or the group on this
one... not the Oaktown 357 song though).
"Jellas Fellas" no clue who did this track...actually I don't even remember it
being good... but I'd like to hear it again.
"Back to the Hotel" N2Deep.
"Sally" Gucci Crew.

You can't forget Stezo-I guess it was 'his turn' for only one song...
ANd if you're gonna include Sally, That Girl (ohhhhhh ohie oh) then you
gotta include Afro-Rican for 'Give it all you got'

Actually, the whole Miami Bass genre is defined by one hit wonders. I
can't think of anybody but Luke who's done well with more than one.

before i drop my list, i just wanna stress that being a one hit wonder has
nothing to do with how dope an cm or group was. plenty one hit wonder group
were basically over looked and underrated:
da king and I:flip da script
grand daddy IU: something new
trends of culture:off and on
kmd: peachfuzz
Big l:put it on
ed og and da bulldogs: i gotta have it
yall so stupid:95 south (i think that was the name)
future sound: what's a bro to do
original flavor:here we go
the dream warriors: my defintion (anyone want to laugh, take a listen to their
debut album. dope beats and the worst rhymes ever)
there are endless more, but I'm running dry.

Hahahah what about "What's Up Doc" with Shaq? And "Breakdown"? But their
first album was the best out of all the albums they released. I'm still
kinda surprised they came out with a Greatest Hits album.

Nice N Smooth???? Oh my GOD, I beg to differ!!! They had a million and one
hits. I'm not even going to list them, everyone knows them all.

Here's my list:

Sweet Tee- It's My Beat

Double X Posse- (Actually they had two, but it's a tossup, so here's both)
Not Gon 'Be Able To Do or Now They Wanna See Me

Leschea- Fulton Street

Dismaster Posse- Smalltime Hustler

(the infamous) 2 Kings in a Cipher- Brothers Who Ain't Here

Bandit- All Men Are Dogs (the rmx version featured Raggedy Man, Grand Puba,
Snagglepuss and BIGGIE)

sucked, but it was just a fun thing to do.

But he also had that songs remix,as well as,"Get Down"
& "Gotta get the Cash...",so he is not a one-hit wonder.

The term,"one hit wonder",is in reference to an artist who comes out with a
song everyone likes, but later on is never heard from again,or never follows
up with another hit song.

These are what defined as "one-hit wonders"...

Joeski Love-"Pee-Wee Dance". The KING of the "one-hit wonders".
Candyman-"Knockin' Boots"
L'Trimm-"Cars That Go BOOM"
Ahmad-"Back In Da Days"
Jimmy Spicer-"Super Rhymes"
D.J. Whiz Kid-"Play That Beat"
Shawn Brown-"Rappin' Duke"
Whistle-(Nothin' Serious) Just Buggin'
JJ Fad-"Supersonic"
Divine Sounds-"What People Do For Money"
Steady B.-"Serious"
Cool C.-"Glamourous Life"
Frankie ????-"Double Dutch Bus"
Paperboy-"Ditty"

....You get the picture.

I don't know... I think that we need to lay some rules down. I
that at least, the mc/group needs to have at least a full length
record out. Thus, having said that much:

Omniscence - Amazin' (what the fuck happened to him???)
Erule - Listen up (this song was so dope!!!)

I don't recall seeing anything of the lp nature from them. someone
please correct me if I'm wrong. thanks.

Special Ed had a track on _New York Reality Check 101_. The track's
titled "Think Twice". I'd say it was one of the best tracks on that
entire album.

I don't know if she counts- I had her album and I thought every song was
dope! Plus, the first song I heard (and loved) was It's like that y'all.
And I think it's better than it's my beat anyway.

I guess it depends how you define a hit- certainly didn't do anything in
sales compared to bust move, but he did have some great undergound
classics on 12" prior to that one. Also, he wrote 'Wild Thing' and 'Funky
Cold Medina' for Tone Loc. So he's a borderline case...

Have to disagree about Sp. Ed.... Think About It ( his other hit. so,
he had 2 hit songs.)

More-

JVC Force- Strong Island

YZ (my old roommate)- YZ's Thinkin' of a Master Plan

Power Rule- can't even remember the name of the song...

Hard 2 Obtain- Bust a Move With the LI Groove (produced by those wacky
Stimulated Dummies)

Crips n Bloods- Piru Love

NINE- what was that song called? I always forget...

Divine Styler- I DEFINITELY forget the name of his song...

Boss- and hers too...

I think most of Channel Live's shit is ill. Have you heard "Is it A
Dream" or "RedRum". Those tracks are ill so i can't really qualify
Channel Live as a one hit wonder, especially with "Mad Ism". I didn't
know KRS-ONE was such a fucking weed smoker. He came off like shit on
that song.
Another dope track by Blazhay Blazhay was "Blah, Blah Blah" . That
song had a dope as beat and the lyrics were tight.
Das Efx's first album was a classic. There were also a few dope
songs on their next two albums. There newest one was bullshit I'll
agreew with that!

Hi,
I was rollin in my chair when I read this. > Home

team - Pick it up

I was attending school at Albany State(Ga), when I first heard of Home Team.
They were at a local mom and pop record store signing copies of "Pick it Up".
Someone was going on about celebrities in the house. My friend, she was looking
about where -where. She was looking for someone like Kilo. Instead, it was
Hometeam..Standing in front of her.
It's funny but not written.

anyways, I thought that no one would remember that song.
