This weekend an important figure, known and beloved by all, was taken from
us. I am speaking of Anton LaVey Burton, star of TV's "Reading Rainbow" and
"Star Trek: The Next Generation".

In his brief thirty-seven years with us, LaVey dedicated his life to his
two causes: promoting literacy among children, and working for the
dignity of gay blind black men. His tireless efforts will not be
forgotten, nor will his religious ministry in the Church of American
Secular Humanism, where he served as a lay deacon since 1988.

To ensure this, we at the Church of American Secular Humanism have started
the Anton LaVey Burton Memorial Rainbow Fund. The fund's purpose is to
promote literacy efforts, especially those aimed at gay blind black
children.

Please remember the noble life of LaVey by sending a check to:

C.A.S.H.,
666 Good Intentions Rd,
New York, NY 10075.

Thank you.

Did you actually READ the article? No, I thought not... Here it is
again, and try to remember what they taught you about reading
comprehension in second grade (if you did indeed pass second grade). If
you employ your ability to make connections and read between the lines,
you will come to understand that this post is *funny*. Or at least it is
to people with bizarre senses of humour like me.

The founder of the COS, LaVey is dead.
The founder of the Church of the Living God, Jesus Christ is alive. He
everliveth to make intercession for me and you.
Pray this prayer from your heart...Lord Jesus...have mercy upon me a
sinner...come into my heart and save my lost soul.. and be my personal
Lord and Saviour.
Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Now pray this prayer...Lord Jesus..thank you for savingt my lost soul
and delivering me from the deceits and bondage of satan. Thank you for
your powerful blood you shed for me on the cross....the only blood that
has power to overcome the devil.
Thank God satan is a defeated foe. He has been overcome by the blood of
the Lamb. (Jesus)

Wahooo! Howard LaVey is dead!! Break out the holy wafers and that
jug of wine! It's time to celebrate!
A Christian, celebrating the death of an adversary...
Like most Christians, you are vindictive, warlike, vengeful...
If Jesus Christ lived today, he would have attended LaVey's
funeral and paid homage to him - he would have displayed mercy,
charity, humility and love towards this man. But again, like
most Christians, you gloat and cheer and grandstand when your
enemies are bereaved.
The life of Jesus Christ has taught you nothing. All you have
succeeded in doing is giving ammunition to the people you label
"Satanist." You have sunk to their level when you celebrate the
death of LaVey, and you stink every bit as badly.
May God have mercy on your pathetic soul

Um, perhaps you should start by getting you Nemesys's name correct.
First his name is Anton LaVey, now perhaps his *original* first name
was Howard, but his last name was different also. It was never and
never will be Howard LaVey.

When someone changes thier name it is legal FOREVER. That is why
there is the legal clause "Whereas patitioner shal be known from heron
after as.." means. It means that this is you name from now until
forever... including and not limmited to ones death. So get the name
correct.

As for the celebration of this nemesys that you have claimed unto your
own. The CoS will become something greater, if placed into the
correct hand, than it has ever been before. So before you praise the
death of your nemesys, be prepared for your new one whos throne will
most likely rise higher than LaVey's ever did. Perhaps your foot
tastes good?

Relax. What Kerry means is that a well-known patron of satanism recently
died (Anton LaVey), and someone noticed the similarity of the names and
decided to make a joke out of it by posting it on the Star Trek groups. As
far as I am aware, LeVar Burton, who plays Geordi, is NOT dead.

No, no. You're thinking of RICHARD Burton...it didn't come out till after
his death that he had been a gay blind black man.

What kind of sick freak would joke about the tragic death of LeVar Burton?
Didn't the man suffer enough? Not only the social consequences of being a
gay black man in the US, but having to deal with blindness and intense
headaches all the time?

You mean SIR Richard Burton, the famed Victorian adventurer, scholar,
lover and soldier, who translated the 1001 Arabian Nights, and sought the
source of the Nile, is not only dead, but was also BLACK?! All this time,
everyone thought he was the first /white/ man to have entered Mecca, and
now the whole thing is uncovered as a fraud!

Goodness, this thread get more confusing as it goes along!

(This is starting to remind me of the old thread "What's a troll?" anybody
remember that one?

wasn't Richard Burton the first black man to the south pole?
I just don't remember who translated Arabian Nights into Greek but it must
have been fun. How many "rings" did the jennie have on the string?
