T1 public notice:

Mr Sharma, USV-India sales manager, is in the US visiting his children for
the next two weeks. He will be in Chicago on Friday, 5 September, to
discuss the possibility of U40 beef insulin importation to individuals in
the US.

The process will use an Indian patient based organization to do the leg-work
of purchasing USV-India retail insulins then shipping them to the US for a
handling fee. The target price is US$5/10 ml vial of U40 (so US$5 * 2.5 =
US$12.50 per 1000U equivalent) beef insulin plus S&H. USV-India does not
market ultralente insulins, as the Indian market only requires lente for
basal needs. USV-India imports highly purified beef, pork and
semi-synthetic human insulin crystals from AKZO-Nobel, (in France I think),
and formulates (in a brand new facility) three preparations: R, NPH and
lente for all species of crystals. Only monocomponent (no species mixtures
like beef/pork) insulin preparations are produced by USV. My understanding
is the beef insulin crystals come from US sources, so BSE is not a problem.

I have Earthlink's spamblocker challenge-response active on this mailbox, it
will ask you to send me confirmation that you are not a machine emailing me
spam, just respond with "Beef insulin" in the subject line.

I have no monetary interest in this transaction and this is just a service
to the T1 public from my days with DIF, where I met Mr Sharma in Boston.

This is a short fuse for Chicago. But we have another window in the NJ, NYC
area for the week of September 6th to 13th.

Don't be shy! Canadians welcome too! Regards,

UPDATE!

There have been a few interested parties. We are probably going to start a
new political organization called:

Bovine Users' Group and Federation of Diabetics Association

Yeah. You got that right! BUGFDA!

Seems fitting,

That's it!

The first order of business for BUGFDA will be to offer a free one week get
away to Florida retirees for the second week of next September. This
beautiful fun filled bus tour will take our voters to Washington, DC, with
preprinted picket signs saying: "The FDA is Killing US!" There will be two
4 hour shifts, (there ain't no free lunch in this here US of A), where
these BUGFDA members will barricade the FDA buildings while politely posing
for News crews. All Florida Congressmen will be expected to attend. The
second 4 hour shift will take our photogennites to the Smithsonian for a
dazzling look at why the US of A has been so successful.

The tour will end at Disney World with Mickey and the News crews,

Yes. This is a joke with some anger at the bovine users for not helping
with the USV-India connection. It seems reasonable to investigate a backup
source of beef insulin in light of the Wockhardt-CP Pharma merger. But I'm
the only one in the US (per Mr Sharma) communicating with USV-India and I
don't need USV's products (but maybe that's a good thing). So he is
passing my contact information to the new IDDT-India organization for
future collaboration. But obviously bnf or willbill would be better
contacts with a vested interest in bovine insulins.

Next, in light of Dave Groves' health problems, I'm wondering where DIF will
be going and if the "Gray Ribbon" organizational signature is worth saving
for some future DM organization. As before, I want some general
organization without insulin species specific factions. So bovine in the
organizational name is too narrow for me to get involved.

I certainly want Groves to recover from his CVD. But I think even he will
recognize the need for him to take a back seat going forward.

Another idea is to give the IDDT the rights to the Gray Ribbon symbol. But
the ID (Insulin Dependent) part is still too narrow for me.

I'm open to suggestions. All ideas welcome,
