Your problem stems from the fact that you probably aren't running Geforce
drivers that are WHQL certified. Dont use beta or drivers that say WHQL
candidate, use ONLY certified. Go back to nvidia and download and install
the last WHQL certified drivers which I believe are version 40.72 and that
will fix your problem. You will find these drivers under the windowsXP
driver archive link here http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_archive

P.S I don't know which version of geforce 3 you have, but the driver you're
using, according to the attachment you left, don't appear in the Nvidia
archive. You attached the following;

Monitor: Default Monitor
Video Chipset: NVIDIA GeForce3 Ver. 6.13
Resolution: 800 x 600 in 64K Colors

< Device Information >
Driver Version: 6.13
Technology: Raster display

Thanks!....I've got it working on my monitor now....I just had to install
the older driver that was certified.

But now this leads me to a new question.....why won't it play on my tv?
I've connected by tv to my geforce3 via a s-video cable. But when I switch
my output to my television, the quality is pretty dang crappy with just the
desktop, and when I go to try and play my dvd, it will just play the FBI
warning part again and then stop w/o going on to play the video. Why is
this? How can I it so that I can watch good quality videos on my regualar
television from my pc?

thanks again!

Hmm...no clue as to why it wouldnt play all the way on tv. But my guess is
it might have to do with the player this time.

This is a FEATURE of the copy protection implementation, if your video card
does not include the macrovision copy protection (messes with sync pulses to
prevent copying onto VCR), then WinDVD will not play a protected DVD if 'TV'
is enabled on the video card.
(it says something about this when you installed)

Write your congressman demanding fair-use of the DVD you bought to play
wherever you want!.

Having a beta version really doesnt have anything
to do with it. Altho I dont use Windows Media Player.

I use PowerDVD. That prob MUST only apply to
WMP. I've had a lot of beta drivers for Nvidia cards.

At the mo, I got the 42.68 drivers. Dunno if these are
beta or certified. The DVD still seems to work OK.

Neva had a prob. I use to have WinDVD. Too jerky, and flaky.

PowerDVD is way better.
