Andrea told me she was transported to Jua'rez dozens of times.
During one visit, when she was about 7 years old, the trafficker
took her to the Radisson Casa Grande Hotel, where there was a
john waiting in the room. The john was an older American man,
and he read Bible passages to her before and after having sex
with her.

And the john presumably was reading to her from the
book of Song of Solomon?

We have a little sister, and she has no breasts.
What shall we do for our sister in the day she is
spoken for? If she is a wall, we will build upon
her a battlement of silver; and if she is a door,
we will enclose her with boards of cedar.
--The Bible, Song of Solomon 8:8-9 NKJV

How beautiful are your feet in sandals, O prince's
daughter! The curves of your thighs are like
jewels, the work of the hands of a skillful workman.
Your navel is a rounded goblet which lacks no
blended beverage. Your waist is a heap of wheat set
about with lilies. Your two breasts are like two
fawns, twins of a gazelle.
--The Bible, Song of Solomon 7:1-3 NKJV

What he should have been reading was ...

"Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my
pasture!" declares the LORD .
~Jer 23.21 (RSV)

But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin,
it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his
neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such
things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!
~Matt 18.6-7 (NIV)

I have cause to be involved with an organization in Australia known as
C-BERSS..Christian Brothers Ex- Residents and Students Services formed
as a result of compensatory action against organised paedophilia in
Christian Brothers Orphanages/Schools in Australia. The incident in the
Landesman quote is indeed common - and particularly heinous is the
oft-repeated admonition that God has told me I must do this because you
are naughty/ need training etc.
Sadly a common problem resulting (apart from emotional issues) is poor
literacy skills due to traumatised and disrupted schooling.
