2 quick questions:
1. Does anyOne know the easiest way to get a Java compiler.
2. Does anyOne have any new news about Macromedia's "Afterburner" and if
it's release in January is a good estimate of when it will be out.
Thanks for your Help!
Julian
Afterburner and Shockwave will be out soon. Much sooner than January.
Keep your eyes on www.macromedia.com.
It will change the face of the Web. I know that sounds silly. But it
will. Really. It is Shocking.
If you are at Web Innovations next week in SF, Macromedia will be
leading several sessions on Shockwave Development.

"1. Does anyOne know the easiest way to get a Java compiler."
Visit java.sun.com and download it, or get it in Tim Ritchey's book
on New Riders (check version, though). Note another article today to
the newsgroup about an alternative compiler.

AfterBurner is the compression utility; the Shockwave plug-in
enables playback. Final releases of both should be roughly two weeks
after final releases of Netscape Navigator 2.0 versions. You may
wish to keep a weather eye on www.macromedia.com over the coming
days.
(Note that this initial release of Shockwave will be specific to
Netscape Navigator 2.0. Future versions for CompuServe, AOL,
Microsoft, Sun and SGI will follow, as will the Java-enabled version
of Shockwave.)

What is the relationship among Java, Afterburner and Shockwave?
Are Afterburner and Shockwave mere Netscape plug-ins?

Afterburner is the compressor for Director files which makes them
Shockwave-runnable at speed.
Shockwave is a mere Netscape plug-in. Not bad, for something described as
"mere", eh?
