When a Jewish participant suggested that one of the Arab students'
comments was "anti-Semitic," his response was "how can I be 'anti-Semitic'
when I am a Semite?"
I have since looked up the definition of Semite, and discovered that the
term was first used to refer to the descendants of Shem, the eldest son of
the biblical patriarch Noah, and is used today to refer to people who
speak any of the Semitic languages -- namely, Arabs and Jews.
Let's choose our words more carefully, like calling violence or
discrimination against Jews, "anti-Jewish," acknowledging that our Arab
brothers and sisters are Semites too.

If it is proper for "Jews" to refer to non-Jews who speak critically of Jews as
"anti-Semites" and the criticism being termed "anti-Semitic" and "anti-Semitism"
then would it not only be proper to use such terms applied to Jews as:
"anti-Christ", "anti-Christic", and "anti-Christism" in regard to their
continually denying the Messiah and bedevilling those who do acknowledge Jesus
as the Messiah?
