Dear All,

I have a bit of a dilemma which I hope someone can help me with.
I must first give you some background.
I have SCSI on-board my Motherboard
I had a SINGLE SCSI disc (with 1 primary amd 2 extended partition) on
it.
I have a JAZ drive (connected via PCI SCSI card) ie External device
I have an External USB disc drive. (though this is unimportant for my
Q)
I have a CD (SCSI), CD-R (SCSI), DVD (IDE)
I then installed an IDE disc (so far only 1 primary partition)
I have installed win98on the IDE drive, I have installed Win2K Pro on
the 1st Extended partition on the SCSI drive. (The original pri part
on SCSI is no longer 'active')
Everything works fine. I can boot into either OP sys no problems.
However I have a situation where the drive letter are different in
each OP sys.
Here's the prob:
If I boot into Win 98, I have the following drive letters:
C - IDE pri partition (win 98)
D - Pri partition SCSI (planned future Win 98SE)
E - 1st extended partition on SCSI disc (win 2k)
F - 2nd extended partition on SCSI disc (win 2k programs/data)
G - CD
H - CD-R
I - Jaz
J - DVD
K - USB Drive

IF I boot into Win 2000, I have the following assignments:
C - IDE Pri partition
D - Jaz
E - 1st extended partition on SCSI disc (win 2k)
F - 2nd extended partition on SCSI disc (win 2k programs/data)
G - DVD
H - CD
I - CD-R
J - Pri partition SCSI (planned future Win 98SE)

I dont mind about the DVD, CD, CD-R drive letters of course, but I am
worried about the other drive letters. If I turn the JAZ drive OFF
when I boot then I get something else!
I want to 'share' files/folders between Win 98 and 2000,(e.g. SWAP
file and My Documents etc) but I have to GUARANTEE that I have the
same drive letters. The moment that my E and F drives change am I
really in trouble as all the shortcuts/reg setting etc for the progs
use those letters (not all progs use %%PROGRAM FILES%% variable in teh
registry)

Has anyone any ideas on this. I have tried the MSKB but no luck. A
general search in GOOGLE suggests that this doesn't cause anybody and
probs, so what have I done wrong? (and what should I do to correct
this?)

I can provide further info directly (via email/telephone/ICQ) if
necessary. It is quite important to me. (I very mcuh rely on my PC for
business)

Thanks and regards to all, (email:kisa...@hotmail.com)
Kk
