TOGETHER DATING CHAIN "JUST DOESN'T GET IT"!!!

Although the Together Dating Service chain has been
repeatedly sued by Attorneys General in state after state for
numerous frauds since late 1986, including its prominent claim
that it screens all potential customers with extreme care, and
after the Together chain was specifically blasted by Dateline NBC
nationwide on April 15, 1997, over network television,
specifically for violating its claim of always screening very
carefully, the Together franchisor has now clearly proven that
the chain's management "just doesn't get it"!!!

In particular, on April 28, 1997, with the chain still
reeling from huge fallout caused by Dateline NBC's hidden-camera
expose a mere 13 days before, the chain's national headquarters
faxed a Memorandum to franchisees directed to "saving leads lost
because of DateLine," so that its President could "share an idea
with you."

What is this idea? Together franchisees should try to
counter huge negative press problems first by giving away "a free
temporary membership" to each and every potential customer who
"cancels an appointment and uses the DateLine [NBC] story as
their reason why," and then by providing these totally unscreened
customers "a quality referral or two during this period [so]
they'll be apt to join."

Does the chain have any concern for its own paying
customers thus exposed to entirely unscreened individuals? Of
course not.

The reason for this most recent violation of the chain's
long- standing "screening" promise is because Ted Law, a leading
Together franchisee in Texas, Kentucky and Oklahoma, had
generously shared, to quote the memorandum's own words, "an idea
that you've not only put into practice but that you've [already]
saved a sale with."

Thus, if rendering a claim fraudulent could possible save
even one sale for the Together chain, then damn the key promise
of very careful screening and enroll anyone who watches network
television.

If you have further information of frauds or other
misconduct by Together Dating Service, then please provide all
same either to Victims Together at Box 99, Kirkland, Washington
98083 or to the Association of Ethical Matchmakers at
