InstallShield
=============
ERRMSG: "The Parameter Is Incorrect" while Running Setup.exe
Document ID: Q102386
This article applies to the following:
Product(s): InstallShield 5.x Professional, InstallShield Express
Last Revised On: 08/12/1999
Symptoms
When I try to run Setup.exe, I get the following error:
"<path>../setup.exe, the parameter is incorrect".
--------------
Cause
This error message will occur if:
- the location of Setup.exe is too many levels down
into the directory structure or
- if there are too many characters in the path name.
---------------
Workaround
To avoid this error, try raising Setup.exe in the directory
structure and reducing the number of characters in the path
name. Users of InstallShield 5.5 Professional can also create
a 32-bit Setup.exe, which will not encounter this error.
Note: This error may occur with any 16-bit program, and is
not limited to InstallShield’s 16-bit Setup.exe.

thanks again (to anyone who considered this problem),

"An installation Support File <C:\Temp\SomeLongStringThatISCreates\Kill.exe>
could not be installed. The parameter is incorrect"
But Kill.exe and more than half the support files did actually get extracted
from data1.cab to that directory but continue, it did not.
Has anyone seen anything like this?
thanx
