I'm interested in acquiring a cheap (but best sound for the price) phono
preamp to play a small collection of vinyl. I'm considering

1) The NAD PP1
2) Rotel
3)Parasound

Can anyone comment on the sound of either of these? The rest of the system
is

Infinity RS 8kappa spkrs, Hafler 9500 power amp, Conrad-Johnson PF2L preamp
and a NAD5000 CD player. It's quite high resolution but my turntable is
so-so (Technics SLJ33 linear tracking).

Thanks.

You should also have a look at CREEK OBH-8, OBH-9.... If you want a MM
phono stage OBH-8 seems to offer very good performances and accepts an
imput voltage of 1.5mV... Enough for a Benz Glider cartridge i.e

To be honest I have the same choice and the same trouble to do it.....

I have just purchased a NAD PP-1, only for listening to my old
vinyl´s (I am not a vinyl entusiast). To my ears it sounds good - at
the price (DKK500 = about £50) it is excellent, but it has only a MM
input.

Specifications is listed on the box.:

Input impedance R and C 47kohm, 220pf
Input sensitivity (200mV out) 2.5 mV
Signal to noise (A weighted w. cartridge) 78dB
(unweighted w. cartridge) 72dB
Input overload (20Hz/1kHz/20kHx) 55/63/580mV
Rated distortion (THD 20Hz - 20kHz) 0.04%
RIAA response accuracy +/- 0.5dB

As far as i know Rotel RQ970BX has a MC input too, but it is more
expensive (about 3-4XNAD price).
