Extract from Art. 16 -Sexual Potency.
Erection occurs with the increased blood flow to the spongy muscles of the
penis and closure of arteriovenous shunt. The innervation of this mechanism
comes across parasympathetic nerve fibers that travel in the pelvic
splanchnic nerve and enter the prostatic plexus.

Emission is the filling of the bulbar (posterior) urethra by the sequential
contraction of the prostate, vas deferens and seminal vesicles,
respectively. The smooth muscle of these organs is supplied by adrenergic
sympathetic fibers.

Ejaculation is primarily mediated by means of the pudendal nerve.
Distention of the bulbar urethra by seminal emission is sensed by the
afferent fibers of the pudendal nerve and combine with cortical stimuli,
produces a motor response in the pudendal nerve. Rhythmic contraction by
the perineal muscles surrounding the cavernous tissue forcefully propels
the ejaculate from the urethra.

Dry Ejaculation;
Several events must take place; Sperm, which are made in the testicles,
travel to the epididymis, a "greenhouse". During orgasm, sperm are rocketed
from the epididymis through ejaculatory ducts and mix with fluid produced
by the seminal vesicles. Simultaneously, a muscular valve in the bladder
neck steam shut, forcing this fluid out the possible exit - through the
urethra to the outside world. In most men who have undergone a TURP for
BPH, this valve may be damage; and as there is no barrier to keep sperm
from slams back into the bladder, it isn't forced out the urethra resulting
"dry" or retrograde ejaculation.

The effect of a long standing infection of the prostate and semen may also
result in the diminution of semen production resulting in less semen
volumn.
