I have Win2K. Now the file types has connected .WAV files with WinAmp. When
I want to play a sound it starts WinAmp (takes a little while) and WinAmp
repeats playing the sound continuously!
If I connect .WAV with Windows Media Player the very same happens!
I want to get back like I had it in the Win9x times: clicking a WAV quickly
plays the sound and just once.
How can I get it back?
Thanks for the advice.

2 possible solutions (although with a different result)
Solution #1
(This works for WMP 6 but I'm not sure if it also applies to WMP 7)
Run Windows Media Player. Under the "View" menu select "Options"
Under the "Playback" tab you should see two radio buttons named "play
__ times" and "repeat forever". Select the first and enter "1" in the
box. Press "OK"
Solution #2
If you are familiar with the process of associating an extension to an
executable then ignore part 1
part 1
------
Follow these steps/menus:
Windows explorer -> Tools -> Folder options -> File types -> (find and
select the .WAV extension (pressing "w" should get you very close to
it) -> Press the "Advanced" button -> Select the "open" action if it
is not already selected and Press the "Edit" button.
part 2
------
The "application used to perform action" box should contain a similar
line:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe" /Play /Close
"%L"
(in this case quoatation marks ARE necessary)
The "/Close" (without quotation marks) parameter does the trick
(playing once and exiting)
Press "OK" as many times as needed.
You can also choose the simpler version of Media player as your
default application to play .wav files, which can be found in
"%SystemRoot%\system32\mplay32.exe"
Hope it works for you.
Thanks. I choosed to use "%SystemRoot%\system32\mplay32.exe", which is
starting up quicker. And it does not repeat, Great. Thanks!!
