Please join us on Wednesday, April 25 at the Tate Street Coffee House in
Greensboro, NC for a rare appearance by the New Billiken String Band, an
all-Japanese group playing traditional American tunes.
You're likely to recognize members Ken (banjo) & Kazumi (guitar) Inoue
from local fiddlers' conventions, and may have seen infamous fiddler
Bosco, too. While the Inoues make Statesville, NC their home these
days, the rest of the band will be flying in from various parts of
Japan.
The New Billiken String Band be performing at Merlefest, April 27 - 29,
and us Tate St. folks will have the pleasure of a sneak preview!
Be sure to bring your instruments for the old-time jam session to
follow!
If you can't wait till Wednesday to see this band, you can catch them at
the Vintage Theatre contradance in Winston-Salem on Tuesday, 4/24. The
New Billiken String Band will be joined that evening by Sarah Peterson
on fiddle and John Johanson on bass.
