Missing recent files list

I have been using the Office XP Professional Corporate Preview. I'm pretty happy
with it except for one extremely aggravating thing. I have lost my Recent Files
list. When I go to Tools / Options / General, the Recently Used File List is
grayed out. I tried a complete uninstall and reinstall and it did not fix it.
This is happening in all of the Office products (Excel, Powerpoint, etc). Any
ideas how to fix this?

Hi Bill,

If you've used any customizing tools to tweak your display settings in
Windows it can also disable the Most Recently Used File (MRU) List in
Word 2002 that appears on the File menu, but it won't disable the
one in the Word 'New Document Task Pane'. Where you adjust the
settings and what they are 'named' will vary by which utility package
you're using. In addition to OnTrack System Suite or Norton Utilities
these are a couple of common ones and the settings to change.

Appearance=>Start Menu=>Options=>Recent Documents History

MS TweakUI

IE Tab - turn on [x] Add new documents to Documents on Start menu

You can still have the list be non-visible on the Start menu.
