The Oxford Babylon 5 Society proudly presents...

B A B Y L T H O N
/ /__`--. |
|_____| |_|

(That would be my entry for a "Worst ASCII art of all time" competition.)

What is this Babylthon?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's 24 hours of the finest Babylon 5 episodes, watched all in one go.
We've chosen the 32 episodes that are most important to B5's story arc
(as far as we can tell), and which, by a happy coincidence, are also 32
of the best.
Why is it?
~~~~~~~~~~
With Season 4 just around the corner, this is your chance to refresh your
memory of all that's gone before, and catch up on any episodes you may
have missed first time around. Better still, it's for charity. Sponsor
forms are available from Mark Rigby-Jones (kebl...@sable.ox.ac.uk). (If
we've got to post your form, please get at least enough money to cover the
stamp....) You can also download a postscript version to print yourself:
http://users.ox.ac.uk/~kebl0206/babylon5/babthon.ps
The charity is the Narn Refugee Fund. OK, it's not. We'll be giving the
money to Oxford University's Charity Rag (http://users.ox.ac.uk/~oucrag/)
to dispose of as they see fit.

When is it?
~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday 21st & Saturday 22nd February. (For those on the university
timetable, this is Friday & Saturday of 5th Week.) The action starts at
2000 on Friday and continues, naturally enough, until 2000 on Saturday.
Where is it?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
With any luck, Magdalen JCR video room, but the booking is yet to be
confirmed. If you need directions, e-mail Mark or me and we'll see if we
can sort out some dodgy ASCII map or something. Buses run from London to
Oxford every ten/fifteen minutes at that time of day, and Magdalen
college is easy to find from the nearest bus stop. (See
http://www.oxlink.co.uk/oxford/tube/ for a timetable.) Don't worry, we
can get you there.

What are you on?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To stay awake for 24 hours is going to require prodigious amounts of
caffeine (or speed, if anyone wants to bring some) (NB Only joking). We
should be able to provide a couple of kettles and some (relatively - this
is Oxford) fresh water, if you want to bring a mug and a jar of coffee.
There is a nearby machine that vends Coke and suchlike soft drinks. If you
prefer more esoteric energy drinks, you will need to bring your own.
Which episodes are you showing?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The schedule looks like this:

20.00 101: Midnight on the Firing Line
20.45 106: Mind War
21.30 108: And the Sky Full of Stars
22.15 113: Signs and Portents
23.00 116-117: A Voice in the Wilderness
00.30 118: Babylon Squared
01.15 122: Chrysalis
02.00 201: Points of Departure
02.45 202: Revelations
03:30 208: A Race Through Dark Places
04.15 209: The Coming of Shadows
05:00 215: And Now For A Word
05.45 217: In the Shadow of Z'Ha'Dum
06.30 219: Divided Loyalties
07.15 220: The Long, Twilight Struggle
08.00 222: The Fall of Night
08.45 301: Matters of Honour
09.30 304: Voices of Authority
10.15 306: Dust to Dust
11.00 308: Messages from Earth
11.45 309: Point of No Return
12.30 310: Severed Dreams
13.15 311: Ceremonies of Light and Dark
14.00 314: Ship of Tears
14.45 315: Interludes and Examinations
15.30 316-317: War Without End
17.00 318: Walkabout
17.45 320: And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place
18.30 321: Shadow Dancing
19.15 322: Z'Ha'Dum

What else do I need to know?

How comfy are the chairs?

(This is a *serious* question.)

Well, if we only get a few people, then they're lovely old leather
armcahirs, where the only problem should be not falling asleep.
If, on the other hand, we run out of chairs, then I don't actually know
what sort we'll have to use.

There are six or seven so-comfy-you-can't-help-but-fall-asleep-in-them
chairs (which is either good news or bad news). We will, of course, have
to procure some more. The quality of those is entirely unknown.

I may be able to provide more information on this important matter in the
next week or so.
