Anyone knows which is the latest version of duart.device for MFC III?
If the device is internal, then which is the last expansion handler of MFC
III?

Me has the 3.1 version, but the bugger won't work at all. the duart.device 1
is completeley dead. :(( Have some fix though wich is grabbed from and
posting quite some time ago regarding your problem. Here it comes.

MFC-3 driver generates an uncatched CPU trap (or was it interrupt?
Can't remember) if data is coming in the serial port at the same time
as the device is closed.

The following patch file modifies the driver (MultiFaceCard 3.1
(1993-07-11)) such that this problem goes away. Install it using the
SAS/C spatch program (which is freely distributable, but which I won't
attach here to save space. Find it somewhere else if you don't have
SAS/C) as: "spatch -oRAM:MFC.patched -pmfcpatch
SYS:Expansion/MFC". Make a backup of the original driver and copy the
patched version in its place, and reboot.

The patch was made by a friend who wishes to stay anonymous after I
asked him what could be done about the problem. I don't know if this
affects MungWall (I use it with sushi, and I don't redirect
serial.device to duart.device anyhow), but it has eliminated all
problems I ever had with MFC-3.

Hope this helps, but my MultiFace 3 card is still dead. :(((

On or about 19-Nov-96 07:23:44 MaRTiN / FRoNTaL aCTiViTy typed the following words
about "MFC III duart.device - last version?". My reply is thus...

Hi MaRTiN,

MFa> III?

I just bought a MFC III about a month ago. The duart.device is internal but
reports V3.1. The expansion handler reports the same.

Thanks for the update. I'm going to try. My only problem with duart.device
is with BBS. BBS sometimes doesn't HangUp modem normally and freezes on
opening device.

Sorry folks, I missed the earlier posts on this topic...

I grabbed the patch, and will soon have either an MFC-III or -IV, so
what problem does the patch fix?

Fix the crash that happens when the device is closed while data is coming in.
