HI! Does anyone have any input over Line-X vs Rhino Liners? I live in the
desert wondering and trying to find out which is the best..

i have rhino, and have looked at line-x. the rhino appears to be applied
thicker, and have a coarser surface texture. i love my rhino, and have had
it for 5 years. only have two small chips in the tailgate where i dragged a
6' section of log across it because it was too heavy to lift (maybe 350lbs.)

I have a new F250 SD 4x4 Reg. Cab, about how much would a Rhino Liner cost
for my truck?

Thanks,

Greg Clawson

On my '98 Ranger I opted for the Line-X, mostly because the dealer
seemed to take much greater care in the application than the Rhino
dealer. I have not been disappointed, but a Rhino would probably
be fine too if the installers were good. I do like the texture of
the Line-X better than the Rhino - the Rhino looked more like the
'splatter' texture applied to drywall, but the Line-X looked more
like 'crackle' paint texture.

I got a quote for about $440 (don't remember the exact
amount) for my long bed '98 F150 on Long Island.

I'll prolly go ahead after the bed gets a little more
dinged up as I have other uses for the cash right now.

If you buy a Rhino, go to their website and request some free information. I
did this and when it came, it included a $30 rebate certifcate as well as a
certificate for some tiedowns.

Is Line-X better than Rhino? Dunno...my Rhino has some very slight sags in
spots...you would have to look close to see them but they're there. The Rhino
dealer would not fix them - said the fix might be worse than the problem and
that this is normal to a certain extent. I can't MAKE him fix it, so
there-you-go... However, there are no other spray liner dealers in my area,
the liner is tough and thick, and after all, it's a truck.

I would go to both dealers and ask to see trucks they have sprayed.

I am a Line-X Store Manager in New Orleans
Lemme give you the skinny
Line-X is a heated HIGH pressure system, Rhino is a Cold LOW pressure
system
Whats the diff. you ask.
The Curing process!......the Cold urethanes take from 24- 72 hours to
cure through and through...during this process they swell slightly,
making them slightly thicker but it leaves for a softer compound,
(Less Durable)
The Heated high pressure systems cure in LESS THAN 15 seconds, this
fast curing process does not allow swelling AT ALL.
Leaving you with a more dense, HARDER more abrasion resistant
compound. ANY flaw (runs, drips, etc.) can and BETTER be repaired.
In fact the repair can be done with in 1 minute after spraying........
Without being noticable! so bottom line is there should be NO FLAWS..
but DONT LET THICKNESS FOOL YOU!!!
The Heated systems also are able to use different application process.
We use a "Wire Trim" Edge Cutting tape it is simply a double sided
adhesive with piano wire embedded in it. this is the first thing that
goes on the truck. then the paper and tarps cover the truck bed to
prevent overspray! After the truck is sprayed the wire trim is pulled
and that is what cuts the urethane. MOST of the Rhino Linings are done
with masking tape, any rough edges are trimmed with a RAZOR KNIFE!
So with the Line-X application after the truck is sprayed there is no
chance of the paint being cut into or the truck being scratched.
The Line-X process should take 2 hours or less and can be used for
light duty stuff Immediately...we dont recommend you haul an engine
block that day but 4 wheelers or bicycles, furniture etc. wont hurt
it.
At my shop I use a selling tool.....it's a piece of 3/8 inch thick
plate steel 1 foot square. We sprayed it and I use another piece of
1/4 inch steel with sharp corners. 3 inches square........I gouge the
corners of the small piece of steel into the Line-X plate Literally
TRYING to take chunks of it out..........once people see this they are
sold. I ALWAYS urge my customers to go and see Rhino and if they want
I will loan them my 1/4 piece of steel, I tell them to go and ask the
Rhino dealer if he will let them do to his what I did to
mine.............they ALWAYS come back and I have had Phone calls from
the Rhino Dealer highly pissed asking me NOT to send people to his
store!!!!! This tells me that THEY know Line-X is a more durable
product.. You will dent your truck bed before you damage Line-X.
Let me say this much.....Rhino does what it is designed to
do "Seal out moisture and air, preventing rust and corrosion". But as
far as durability there IS NO comparison...............
Lastly, the spray in bedliner (any of them) are only as good as the
applicators doing the work..........that is 98% of the final product!
Make sure you can see a couple of the trucks that your local dealer
has done. And NOT THIERS....a customers truck. Or 2.
Find out how long thier applicators have been doing this type of work,

how long has that dealer been in business.
ALL of the spray in Manufacturers will sell a franchise to ANYONE.
Experienced in business or not, if you got the cash they will sell you
the franchise.

In article <36ed8f42...@news.msy.bellsouth.net>,

i'm a rhino linings dealer, i currantly own 5 dealerships in the indiana area
and have been in buisness for 10 years, let me share some FACTS 1.i agree
w/polysprayman,investigate the shop before you buy, experence is one of the
most important things you should consider.(and yes installers come and go,at
my shops,I train all installers myself.) 2.the better spray-on bedliner
systems all have their pros and cons,ie, softer materials may cut and harder
materials may crack...ect. 3.be vary carefull, there are some companys
spraying paint like coatings and claiming to be as good as everybody else
but, with a cheeper price.(see #1) 4.anybody can use wire trim,at our shops
we use it. 5.READ your warranty, there is a lot of false advertising going
on. 6.ASK QUESTIONS,please,my managers will be happy to answer ANY question
you might have, this will help you in making your desision on which spray-on
bedliner to get. 7.there is no question,SPRAY-ON bedliners offer the best
protection for your truck bed.

In short do your homework, dont settle for smoke and mirror sales techniques
that some companys use.
