I am pondering the issue of when to replace the cord on
my old hex's, etc., and I thought many folks in this group
may also be wondering about the same.

The cord on my collection of bigger nuts is about 6 years old,
and for entirely unscientific reasons I'm replacing it right now.
It's cheap, etc. etc. HOWEVER, I caught myself staring at my old
WildCountry friend, and the stitched webbing on it is 8-9 years old,
and hell, that doesn't seem 'safe'. I'm interested in other folk's
opinions ... since I'll need that good old friend Sunday, I'm
considering replacing the webbing with either cord or new webbing.

So, what'd'yall think? To quote Hunter Thompson - "We are, ...
after all, ... professionals." :)

Greg,
I suggest you replace those slings immediatley. There are companies
that do it for a fee, and you can send then back to Wild Country and
they'll do it for a fee too. You might also want to start thinking
about getting new Friends as well. I called Wild Country today asking
about their Vertige Ice Tools and the conversation turned to Friends.
They've known people to use 12 year old Friends, but depending on use,
they weaken after a decade of use. As for your replacing the slings,
do it now. I say use 5.5mm Gemini cord or the eqivalent with at least
a double fishermans if not a triple.
