I had some 'high' scores on this... Im hoping it's just cause things
are a little out of balance for me these days. Or... maybe I am just
a little psycho?
Brian
Yeah, Brian, you're psycho.
Me too. I just took it, i'm "very high" on schizotypal. "moderate" to "high"
on everything else - except "low" on narcissistic and anti-social.
So i guess i'm a crazy eccentric person who believes in ghosts and
aliens and thinks she's ugly and likes other people more than herself. :-)
That's not so bad!
I scored low on everything. Maybe that means I'm boring...
Or maybe you're happy with yourself the way you are, content with your life
and with your surroundings, in a peaceful sort of existence?
Honestly, there's something to be said for boring.

Btw, I scored low on everything as well.
I hate flunking tests like that...
Does planting grass seed count as a wild and crazy activity? How about
balancing the bank statement? I've got it, I'll go to bed early with a good
book - and crank the electric blanket control ALL THE WAY UP!
I think maybe you boring, stable-minded people need us crazies to balance you
out.
I'm thinking... but I'm getting sleepy. Maybe tomorrow...
Got 1 moderate and all the rest low .........damn, I'm boring too.......but
not as boring as you (jk)

I would have scored the same when I was in the beginning of my divorce/
separation. Nothing to be worried about - just doing try filling the void
any time soon!

And you're worried! I only scored low on three and moderate on one! The
rest were high to very high. Can I have my prize now, please?
Lavender
Hey.... stop looking at me that way...... I know you are plotting against
me.....

With the last, you remind me of a character in a book. I forget
the title, but the author is Sarah Caudwell. In it, one of the
characters is slipped a drug that removes inhibitions. She pulls
a Jane Austen novel out of her purse and starts reading.
Fun books (Caudwell, that is; I'm not a big Austen fan, though some
are ok. Even then 'fun' isn't the word I'd use.).

Brings up the old question, are you paranoid if they really
are out to get you?
Paranoid: Low
Schizoid: Moderate
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Moderate
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Moderate
Dependent: Very High
Obsessive-Compulsive: Low
These are pretty skewered, if I must say so myself. I put that I like to
stay at home, versus being in social situations, so now I'm a schizoid,
and that I thought I had extra-sensory abilities, thinking about woman's
intuition, so now I'm schizophrenic.
But, but, but...I'm very high for being dependent. No shock there!

Conspiracy Theory.
I like that movie! I've seen it about three times now.
Bragging rights is the prize. You have me beat.
My scores were:
Paranoid: High
Schizoid: High
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: High
Avoidant: High
Dependent: High
Obsessive-Compulsive: Moderate
>Apparently I'm a moderate obsessive-compulsive narcissist. Oh well :-)
That's exactly what mine said -- everything else was low :-)
Kath - who has to work on the narcissistic side of her. I always thought it was
because I was an only child and a Sagittarian!
I finally took the test. Now I'm REALLY bummed:
Paranoid High
Schizoid High
Schizotypal Very High (I don't even know what this means!)
Antisocial Low
Borderline Moderate
Histrionic Moderate
Narcissistic High
Avoidant High
Dependant High (Surprising, since I'm 100% self-supporting and
have been for years)
Obsessive/Compulsive Moderate
I think it's time for meds!

Wonder if it would turn out differently<
I was thinking along similar terms....I would like to have any prospective
*date* take the test before I go out with them :-)
Kath
A lot of those questions seem to have to do with our perception of ourselves,
and not necessarily how we might seem to another person.
Hmmm... a good liar could easily make himself look pretty good.
Geez, if I can get all "lows" anyone should be able to.
Casey
Indecision is the key to flexibility.
Sometimes our perception of ourselves can be further off of reality then how
those closest to us see us. The person people may most lie to is themself.
Wow someone beat me!! lol
:-)
Much of those scores hinge on definitions of vague words
(I worry a _lot_ about ...) Someone with very high (or very low)
standards on those qualifiers could be nutty as a fruitcake, but
not come out as such in the test. There are also several which
relate to how others see you, which means someone surrounded by
folks who have agreed not to tell 'John' (Doe) that he's a loon,
will come out just fine.
Conversely Lauri ("The crazy cat lady" :-) ) can get very high
scores just by deciding that the one time she asked a mechanic
to work on her car constitutes 'depends _heavily_ on others'.
Very interesting. I actually took the real complete test once. I think
there were 110 questions, but don't quote me on that. I was told that I
minimized my problems. I said, "really, so I guess that means I am a
postive thinker, huh?" LOL

Hey! Quit spying on me! You picked a good example, actually, because
I do feel really guilty and weak if I have to ask for help with
*anything*. It's really insanely unreasonable, because most people
are more than willing to lend a hand when asked.
Lauri in WA
Well, I wouldn't say insanely unreasonable. How about suffering from
self-punishing politeness? Believe it or not, there are (as you said)
a lot of people who actually like to help from time to time.
I do understand the guilt thing, because I suffer heavily from it. At
times I think guilt drives my life. However, you have to get past the
'weak' feeling. All of us have some things we're good at doing and
other that we basically suck at.
I'll give you a secret about rewarding men who might be inclined to do
help out occasionally. I have one word (no, not *that* one). Beer.
My work is done here...
>Hey! Quit spying on me!
Uh-Oh! You're not becoming paranoid on us now are you?!
K

Funny thing about beer. I used to hate the stuff, but lately I sort of like
it. Especially, the german variety. So, now if I could just get interested
in football. . . .
I like the darker beers as well. Unfortunately there aren't any good
"light" (as in calories) dark beers.
As far as football goes, maybe you try drinking more beer while
watching...
:-)
Pick whichever makes me look best (or both -- two for one special!)
* I perceptively noticed this about you
* I share the trait and have struggled with it
Anyhow, I've been getting it under control. The separation, where
I had no (effective) choice but to rely on other people, helped break
that logjam.
One helpful piece: A request is not a demand. I can ask for some
help. But the person I ask can turn it down. Conversely, I can
turn them down when they ask. -- seems that the people who have
the worst time about asking for help are those who won't refuse.
You're equals, so can ask for and offer help freely, and decline
equally freely.
Another I'm not nearly as good with: You can ask for help before
it is a life and death situation. Ok, if you ask for the remote
that is sitting 5 feet away from you and cross-country from me,
you're gonna be walking. But if you've got a painting project
that has some time limits, you can ask before it becomes obvious
that you can't finish it in time yourself.
