Think you have some personality disorders? Take the quiz and find
out...

http://www.4degreez.com/misc/personality_disorder_test.mv

I had some 'high' scores on this... Im hoping it's just cause things
are a little out of balance for me these days. Or... maybe I am just
a little psycho?

Yeah, Brian, you're psycho.

Me too. I just took it, i'm "very high" on schizotypal. "moderate" to "high"
on everything else - except "low" on narcissistic and anti-social.

So i guess i'm a crazy eccentric person who believes in ghosts and
aliens and thinks she's ugly and likes other people more than herself. :-)
That's not so bad!

With the last, you remind me of a character in a book. I forget
the title, but the author is Sarah Caudwell. In it, one of the
characters is slipped a drug that removes inhibitions. She pulls
a Jane Austen novel out of her purse and starts reading.

Fun books (Caudwell, that is; I'm not a big Austen fan, though some
are ok. Even then 'fun' isn't the word I'd use.).

Paranoid: Low
Schizoid: Moderate
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Moderate
Histrionic: Low

Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Moderate
Dependent: Very High

Obsessive-Compulsive: Low

These are pretty skewered, if I must say so myself. I put that I like to
stay at home, versus being in social situations, so now I'm a schizoid,
and that I thought I had extra-sensory abilities, thinking about woman's
intuition, so now I'm schizophrenic.

But, but, but...I'm very high for being dependent. No shock there!

:-)

Much of those scores hinge on definitions of vague words
(I worry a _lot_ about ...) Someone with very high (or very low)
standards on those qualifiers could be nutty as a fruitcake, but
not come out as such in the test. There are also several which
relate to how others see you, which means someone surrounded by
folks who have agreed not to tell 'John' (Doe) that he's a loon,
will come out just fine.

Conversely Lauri ("The crazy cat lady" :-) ) can get very high
scores just by deciding that the one time she asked a mechanic
to work on her car constitutes 'depends _heavily_ on others'.

Pick whichever makes me look best (or both -- two for one special!)
* I perceptively noticed this about you
* I share the trait and have struggled with it

Anyhow, I've been getting it under control. The separation, where
I had no (effective) choice but to rely on other people, helped break
that logjam.

One helpful piece: A request is not a demand. I can ask for some
help. But the person I ask can turn it down. Conversely, I can
turn them down when they ask. -- seems that the people who have
the worst time about asking for help are those who won't refuse.
You're equals, so can ask for and offer help freely, and decline
equally freely.

Another I'm not nearly as good with: You can ask for help before
it is a life and death situation. Ok, if you ask for the remote
that is sitting 5 feet away from you and cross-country from me,
you're gonna be walking. But if you've got a painting project
that has some time limits, you can ask before it becomes obvious
that you can't finish it in time yourself.
