What: 1st Annual Boating Bash in Belden

When: May 16th & 17th

Where: Belden Town, Hwy 70, Between Oroville and Quincy, California,
USA, Earth ...

Why: The N. Fork Feather has been devastated by 50 years of hydro
development, a beautiful Granite river canyon is now stair-stepped
with hydroelectric projects leaving the remaining river sections
nearly dry. American Whitewater, California Outdoors, Chico
PaddleHeads, Friends of the River, Shasta Paddlers, and many other
groups are fighting for river flows to bring this near-dead river back
to life. Thanks to El Nino, the run-off currently exceeds the capacity
of PG&E's projects!

The purpose of this weekend is first to boat some wonderful sections
of river thar are rarely run, and second to send a message showcasing
a resource which is currently beyond reach to most of the boating
public.

Jeff, the third generation owner of Belden Town, has agreed to host
our weekend with a BBQ dinner and camping on Friday and Saturday
nights for a mere 15.00 per person per night. Any and all are welcome
to attend for one day or two but you need to call and register to
ensure adaquate food supplies!

There are a number of runs available with difficulty ratings from III
to V, see the most recent American Whitewater journal for info on the
N. Fork Feather. For additional information contact:
