I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this problem before:

I had headaches as a child and it was determined that I had a dairy
allergy. If I take in too much milk, cheese, etc. I get very bad
headaches. By too much, I mean that if I have pizza today, and
something with cheese tomorrow, then I can't have any more for several
days.

It has taken me years to realize (I'm now 38), but I have found that
if I take a calcium supplement (I've tried different types), a
multi-vitamin with calcium, organge juice with calcium, etc. I get the
same headaches. It's the same situtation as with dairy products, I
have to take them for 2-3 days before I get the headache. I've finally
determined that it's not dairy products that are the problem, but the
calcium in the dairy products.

I would love to know if there are other cases of this.

Every type of calcium: milk, multi-vitamins, carbonate, citrate,
whatever they put in orange juice, etc. gives me the same reaction.
I've found no exceptions. I even tried seasme butter (which is
supposed to be high in calcium) on the advice of a health food store
employee, and after several days got the same headache as I would have
from milk.

As far as dosages, I'm okay if I have something like a glass of milk
once a day for a day or two, but if I keep it up longer than that, I
get the headache. It's like it builds up in my system or something.
Same with a calcium supplement or a multi-vitamin with calcium, after
taking it for a couple of days I start to have problems.

Thanks.

This type of headache has been linked to an excessively high
calcium/magnesium ratio. Are your supplements balanced for
calcium and magnesium ? There should be no more than twice
as much calcium as magnesium, and preferably the same
amount. Dairy products contain 9 or more times as
much calcium as magnesium.

Have your thyroid checked. This sounds hauntingly like hypercalcemia
caused by thyroid malfunction. Get to an endocrinologist ASAP.
