I did install RH9 the past few days (and did install all available
updates last night) - and I have (already) a problem with mounting
directories.
Exercise: I want to mount 4 public directories of my Debian-server on
some workstations. The W2K/XP-workstations do not have any problem with
the connections to the server.
Other the new Redhat-workstation:
*) If I do make an entry for mounting ONE directory in the /etc/fstab -
the mount will be OK.
*) If I make TWO or MORE entries for mounting in the fstab - see
http://www.8ung.at/quintus/prob01/fstab.htm - Redhat does freeze at
booting at "SMB .... mounting"!!!
*) If I try to mount the directories manually ('mount -t smbfs
//192.168.xxx.xxx/sicherungen /mnt/sicherungen -o
username=rhuser,password=pwrhuser') the mount does sometimes work,
sometimes freeze (every 2nd or 3rd time).
*) If I do the mounts in the '/etc/rc.local' (mount -t smbfs
//192.168.xxx.xxx/daten /mnt/daten -o
username=rhuser,password=pwrhuser,dmask=777 & .....) the mounting of 4
directories does work - but I do not have a link on the desktop.
--------------------------------------
What can be the cause for this weird behavior? What can I do to use the
fstab for mounting (as usual)? Is there a system-bug?
Thx for answeres.
