The following is a message I posted to a bicycle mailing list in San
Francisco:

---begin my message:

My Grievance Against SFBC

I have a grievance against the SFBC (San Francisco Bicycle Coalition),
due to hateful attacks against my harmless correspondence on their
mailing list at SFb...@topica.com. I request an offcial apology from
an administrative representative of the SFBC, and a reprimand towards
the main offender, who is Todd Fahrner. There are several other
offenders, which SFBC might consider addressing too...and which
offenders can be discovered by perusing the thread in question. I am
not expecting any action against some crude messages posted to me in
private; I am only complaining about certain public postings that were
defamatory and hateful in other ways. (These private postings I am,
however, saving for any possible future repercussions.)

Those who'd like to review the offensive messages, can read them at:
<http://www.topica.com/lists/sfbike/read?sort=d&start=5991>, and is
entitled "Notification of Internet Violations". (This is not the
actual start of the thread, but is the part where I interject, and
for which I was attacked with homophobic innuendos. From there on in,
everything goes downhill.) They span the approximate time period from
June 22 to July 3.

There are references in that thread, to comments I made in another
thread, entitled "Newbie wrestles with inner tube: help!", and in
which I made some jokes about my gay flirting. Those who'd like to
review my comments there, can go to:
<http://www.topica.com/lists/sfbike/read?sort=d&start=5916>. These
span the approximate time period from June 19 to 21.

I have also downloaded these threads to my own computer, in the event
these threads should even become lost or erased from Topica's
database.

While there were many rude remarks made towards me about my tire
problems, there was no apparant homophobia projected in them...and for
which reason I am not expecting any apologies for those comments
therein. I am only directing my grievance against certain vulgar
anti-gay remarks made towards me in the thread: "Notification of
Internet Violations".

Due to Internet connect problems that resumed about three weeks
ago--and have seemed to clear up as of today--I was not able to catch
up on this issue till now. This includes a private e-mail from SFBC's
Executive Director, Dave Snyder. His lame comment inspired me to post
this present request for an official apology. Here is a copy of his
message, with my reply:

Dave, I have no problem staying on topic...and that should be obvious
to anyone participating. What I *do have a problem with, is those who
attack me for being gay...and no one has bothered to tell the attacker
to back off.

>Executive Director of SFBC, sponsor of the SFBike list

As Executive Director, I am very disappointed that you have not bother
to assume your responsibility in confronting homophobic attacks on
this list. Which issue is far more important than telling me, the
person who was unduly attacked, to stay on topic.

Your conscious decision not to confront homophobic remarks in your own
group, is but one more reason why I refuse to ever contribute my
valuable time in the SFBC. Instead of confronting this anti-gay
idiot, and apologizing to me for this unwarranted
attack...you target me, too. Good day and good riddance. Please don't
post to me again, in private.

---end of msg.

The failure of any moderator or authority of SFBC or this mailing list
to step in, has clinched my decision to remove myself from SFBC as a
group. This in no way diminishes my appreciation for the several
excellent members I have come to know. However, it is obvious to me
that many more participants than apparent, desire to congregate
without any self-realized faggots in their midst...as proven by their
tacit acceptance at large, of a homophobe's derogatory and false
accusations. Apparantly, such acceptance includes even our Executive
Director.

I am now in the process of posting the offensive threads to a
website, as an excellent example of the failure of many liberal
organizations in the Bay Area, to fully incorporate their gay
participants with integrity and compassion. Such rampant failures do
not make for a true "Gay Mecca"....and IMO, there is no excuse in this
day and age.

I will be glad to meet in person with Mr. Snyder, or another executive
from SFBC, to iron out this matter. They are free to contact me via
e-mail, phone, or snail mail...all of which information they have on
the membership database.

Sincerely,

Ezekiel J. Krahlin
