You don't say if you want current bands only, or any band that
still sells.

The problem with a top 10 band list is that most bands go through
changes, and the initial creative explosion may not last even as
the personnel become better musicians (Talking Heads would be an
example of this for me, also the Pretenders). So I tend to like the
early phase of most bands, and tend to not like the later stuff unless
the imagination can keep pace with the technical growth.

My list would include:

1. Pavement
2. Chameleons
3. Cramps
4. Any authentic rockabilly compilation
5. Aimee Mann
6. Any of the country/rock practitioners of the 70's, including
the Byrds, Poco, Burritos, Gram Parsons, etc...
7. Johnny Winter
8. Nick Cave
9. Leslie Garret
10. Brian Briggs

In response to your request, here is my top ten at the moment (this may
change from time to time) in some semblance of order:

1) Primus
2) Ozric Tentacles
3) Sausage
4) Dream Theatre
5) Mr. Bungle
6) Faith No More
7) Tea Party
8) Pink Floyd
9) Soundgarden
10) Pearl Jam

These are off the top of my head - there may be others that should be in
there, but I am having a severe mental block at this very time. Isn't
this always the way when you are trying to remember something important -
and music is very important to keep you sane whatever your mood may be.

What was my name anyway!!
